Mexico, USA and Costa Rica are the three best teams, USA are a good bet to win the tournament because their form is good recently. Mexico have not been playing well recently. Honduras are a decent side too and might beat Haiti comfortably in their opening match.
A decent bet for the opening games might be Honduras to win by two or more goals, the odds on USA and Mexico to win their first match are very short. |

USA update:
Whilst this is played on US soil only four players -- Charlie Davies, Freddy Adu, Heath Pearce, and Luis Robles -- are holdovers from the U.S.'s surprising and inspiring run to the finals of the Confederations Cup (although Bob Bradley can call seven more due to a FIFA rule change). The additional 19 members consist of mostly a young, Major League Soccer-based crew, although Brian Ching and Steve Cherundolo are returning after injury layoffs. Whereas the Confed Cup was about team success, the focus of the Gold Cup is on individuals making a case to be considered for inclusion on next summer's World Cup roster.
Because of this strange FIFA rule change the US can now boast a squad of 30 instead of everyone else's 23!
Mexico update:
Despite poor form in the WCQ campaign Aguirre has resisited the opportunity of calling on his senior squad and instead opted to go with youth. However, this is the same youth that won the World Youth Championships in 2005 and despite the likes of Vela and Dos Santos having not yet made the impact they would have liked they are stil;l very talented players
Dos Santos and Vela are slated to play in the Gold Cup alongside Israel Martinez, Pablo Barrera, Jose Cardenas, Efrain Juarez, Luis Noriega and Edgar Duenas and others who made their national team debuts last week.
The US and Mexico are the heavyweights in this area and shouldn't really be opposed.
USA - 3.00 @ William Hills
Mexico - 3.00 @ Expekt _________________ "Statistics are like mini-skirts .. they give you good ideas but hide the most important parts." > One-A-Day Football Challenge for January now open. |

USA v Honduaras
MEXICO v Panama
Might be worth betting on the USA/Mexico double here, priced at 1.69 with Bet365. USA and Mexico are both priced at 1.3 to win, not great value but if they can both do the business then you could make a not bad profit from this. |

I wouldn't want to think I had £300 riding on Mexico at the moment. They made heavy work of winning against Nicaragua who are appearing in their 1st major international tournament. It was a major shock that they didn't win this morte comprehensively and Arsenal fans will be bitter to find out Carlos Vela was stretchered off after 10 minutes so he looks likely to miss the rest of the tournament and the beginning of the season.
In their pre-tournament friendlies Mexico were held 0-0 by Guatemala, the side who Canada beat 3-0 a couple of days later. Last year Mexico were also held 0-0 by little Belize who are no longer even with FIFA so a Mexcio win against Panama, who are central American champions, is no given. _________________ "Statistics are like mini-skirts .. they give you good ideas but hide the most important parts." > One-A-Day Football Challenge for January now open. |
