depends on what you fancy more, ie. Spanish win or the draw?

AH 0.25 (also known as AH 0/0.5)
I find most ppl get misled by this kind of bet; when they’re on AH +0/0.5, they always tell me that it’s most probably a draw and that they’ll win half for the draw. This is effectively risking your whole stake for a potential half stake win (not value if u ask me).
Example, Rosenborg AH -0.25 @ 1.95 v Olympiakos AH +0.25 @ 1.95
If u think Rosenborg will win, decide whether u want to buy any “insurance” before choosing AH or 1x2 betting. The AH of -0.25 will give a return of 1.95 while 1x2 on Rosenborg will get u 2.20 (the difference of 0.25 can be seen as buying insurance just in case of a draw; u get back 0.5 on AH but 0 on 1x2). I call this the “risk half win full” bet, to me the 0.25 ball given is a “bait” for punters to get on the weaker team.
If u think Olympiakos will win, then AH +0.25 will win u 1.95, but if u’re very confident of a win then the 3.20 offered by the 1x2 is obviously the better choice. If u’re not very confident of an Olympiakos win, then the AH of +0.25 is the better choice as u still get to win half in case the match ends in a draw. As mentioned earlier, NEVER bet on AH +0.25 when u think it’s most likely a draw, i.e. risk full win half.
If u think it’s a very likely draw, then it’s time to abandon the AH and get on the 1x2.

i dont understand why spain+0.25 31/40
spain or draw (double chance) 10/17
why would anyone back spain or draw because the hanicap covers both win and draw and its a bigger price

do u understand why the prices are different?

Using ur Spain example and say stake was 100
1) If Spain drew,
a) Spain AH +0/0.5 @ 1.775 would have won half, i.e. 50 push and returned, 50 won @ 1.775. Ur returns would have been 138.75 (including stake); or net profit of 38.75.
b) Spain or Draw (Double Chance) @ 1.59 would have brought in 159 (including stake) or net profit of 59.

2) If Spain won,
a) Spain AH +0/0.5 @ 1.775 would have won full. Ur returns would have been 177.5 (including stake); or net profit of 77.5.
b) Spain or Draw (Double Chance) @ 1.59 would have brought in 159 (including stake) or net profit of 59.

By comparing the net profit of different scenarios above, it should be clear why deco121 said that

News from Betfair

Quote:
Betfair are planning to run a number of Asian Handicap soccer markets in-play over the coming weeks in order to gauge the interest of these markets to our customers. The markets this week will be:

Friday 13th April
19:45 West Brom v Sheffield Wed

Sunday 15th April
16:00 Blackburn v Chelsea

Tuesday 17th April
20:00 Manchester Utd v Sheffield Utd

Wednesday 18th April
20:00 West Ham v Chelsea

We will provide further postings detailing the matches for the following weeks, when available.

What is Asian Handicap Betting?
When betting on an Asian Handicap market you pick a team to win (or lose) together with the winning margin then team will win (or lose) by. The winning margin is expressed as a handicap, a number of goals that will be added to the final score to make up the result used for settlement of the bet.

For more information on Asian Handicap markets please click here

In Play Handicaps
When our Asian Handicap markets go in-play you will be betting on the FINAL SCORE which will be added to the handicap to settle the bet. You will NOT be betting on the remainder of the game.

Could be interesting Smile

WARNING

Some bookmakers have "Handicap" markets with 3 outcomes that you can bet on. E.g yesterday at Coral they had Man utd -1 against sheffield @ 1/2.

Quote:
Man Utd (- 1 goal) 1/2,
Handicap Draw 3/1
Sheff Utd (+ 1 goal) 7/2

Beware of these markets as, unlike AHs, they also have the third bettable outcome, a tie - that is Man Utd to win by exactly 1 goal.

So always check the bet before you put your money down.

At the risk of asking something that has been covered but :

I've been reading this thread, and the guide on the site, however I'm a little unsure on an Asian Handicap bet I'm trying to place.

I like the look of Germany -1.5 @ 2.32 offered by Bet365 this weekend. When trying to place my stake of £5, it tells me that my return will be £6.60.

Isn't my return 2.32*5=11.60?

Is it just that the return it tells me does not include my £5 stake?

Some bookies will just include your original stake in the return - probably to make it look like a larger some for those harder to calculate bets. Damn bookies Mad

i think Bet365 standard confirmation coupon shows.

Stake: 5
To Win: 6.6
Returns: 11.6

i think spider read it wrongly, i.e. u assumed the "to win: 6.6" to be "returns".

u can always check ur betslip to confirm.
