It is not rare that this "special games" had "special" development and results unrelated with the actual recent performance of both teams.
Anyway here is the data.
Boca Juniors, after 12 matches of this Clausura Championship, is 4th. River Plate is tied first (4points above Boca). Both have lost only once and in away games.
Their respective records (W/D/L) are: Boca home 3/2/0, River away 2/2/1. In last 3 matches they have: Boca home 2/1/0 River away 2/0/1.
Both teams has interesting goal differences River +11 , Boca +9.
Both teams are in the 3rd round of the Copa Libertadores. River get there easily first in their group and Boca second thanks to a goal difference with the third. This wednesday Boca won the first match against Cruzeiro at home but brazilians made a goal so Boca is in trouble. River lost away with San Lorenzo (who also beat Boca in the League last sunday) but also get an away goal that gives them good perspective to pass this instance.
As you can see except the fact that River Plate is the best team in the world as you know cause I have told you there are not great differences within this two. Overall figures favour River and home figures favour Boca. As far as these teams are at the same time with interest in their next week Copa Libertadores matches I think that both wont risk too much and the draw will be the most probable result. Last 2 matches in "La Bombonera" (the Boca stadium, as they call it) had ended 1-1 .
Against my will about the match, my FWLP form will include this match as a draw.

Apologies to those involved here as I completely forgot about this thing.
Only entered in weeks 1 & 3 and have been dragging down the average all season - should've given me the boot long ago lads ...although somehow I'm still not last
Anyway, for what it's worth I did enter predictions for this week so hopefully we can all finish with a flourish and move up the League table. _________________ Racing tips in 2007 = +201.04 (LSP)

bluemal,
you suffered but wan, congratulations.
You have great chances being quasi-home at Manchester but those russians have done an extraordinary work against Bayern.
Now you are the last stand of western way of football
Seriously , good luck to the scottish team!
Tell me please, what about this week end. Can you tell us your prediction against Hibernian; are Rangers tired? any hurt? I think your goalkeeper may help a lot for not conceding a goal, is that so?
I am sorry being so confident about Rubin Kazan and they fall this noon 0-3

| should've given me the boot long ago lads |
I've not kicked anyone out as I'm not actually sure how the averages are worked out Sounds like a basic thing but none of the methods that I've tried has come up with the same result as those running the game
Plus, sneakily booting out those that have not participated for the majority of the tournament could give us a huge boost in the final week Obviously, you're safe from that strategy deco but there are certain players that could only be saved by rejoining the game & getting 100% & jokers for the last two weeks of the game. I say could but, as already alluded to, I'm not sure how the averages are affected by non-participation v booting out of the league.
Besides, I've been too busy doing other things as opposed to setting up the match discussion threads etc & so me booting people out for non-participation might be seen as the height of hypocrisy - but I welcome views on this. Should I eject the non-participants?
Oh, yes - TWO WEEKS LEFT. The final round is the weekend of the 17th May.
I'd also like to congratulate everyone for getting involved with this, it's been fun & I've certainly learned a bit about other leagues.
There was a query about how the "prize" for the results is worked out. The value of the correct result is based upon the percentage of players choosing that particular result. For instance say the game is Boca v River, if 87% of players think Boca will win, then if Boca do win they gain those that selected them 13pts. It's the reverse percentage. If you look on the game page & compare the prediction percentage & the points available, it can be seen that the points = 100-(percentage of predictors). Approximately anyway, it gets rounded out. _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

by now we are 5th 74 pts below the first , that is a difference that can be catched.
This may change because spider points has not be computed yet and the russian game remains as postponed (no points) despite it was , surprisingly for me and terribly for my bank, an away win by 3 goals to nil.
Next week is the last week the last chance to get the place we deserve
here some stats of the games and my choice (by now)
...................................W/D/L home away............my guess
England To v Li ...... 8/5/5 ... 8/7/3 .... ==> Draw
Spain AM v DLC..... 11/2/5 ... 6/4/8 ... ==> Draw (see 6-form)
Italy Fi v Pa........... 11/4/3 ... 0/7/11 ... ==> Home
Argentine ELP v BJ ... 6/1/0 ... 3/3/1 ... ==> Home J: 2-1
Brazil In v VDG ... 12/2/5... 4/6/9 ... ==> Home (2007 ch. stats 2008 played 0)
Japan Sh v KA ....... 1/2/3 ... 2/1/2 ... ==> Away (?KA good begin bad recent)
SAfrica KC v OP .......3/5/5.... 4/1/8 .... ==> Home (see 6-form)
USA LAG v NYRB ......... 2/1/1 ... 0/1/1 ==> Home
Germany 04 v EF .... 9/4/3 .... 4/6/6 ..... ==> Home
Scotland Mo v Ab ..... 8/2/5 ... 4/3/9 ... ==> Home (regular season stats)
Except for the draws and the argentine game my choices coincides with favorites(Japan is 67-66-67), difference with all favorites +120 pts and probably the joker.
good luck OLBG team

Well, I don't know what happened to my predictions last week
I'm convinced I entered some I normally enter a a preliminary set of predictions early in the week - & then adjust before the deadline as my choices become more refined - which obviously didn't happen last week. Either that or FIFA are trying to nobble us Running scared of OLBG? Surely not....
To be fair looking back at the matches, my choices wouldn't have pulled in that many points Mainly due to the fact that what I would've picked didn't turn out to be winners rather than being favourites... All I can do is apologise, I'm pretty sure I can't kick myself out of the league
I'd just like, once again, to say well done to all who have participated. I would say that we've acquitted ourselves well - with bluemal leading the Scottish league table, welshie1 & tipstonga being in touching distance of the lead of the Welsh & Argentinian leagues respectively & steveglen gaining second in the English league. To also have 5 other members in the Top 40 of English predictors is also quite an acheivement IMO. I can only think that if we had all competed each & every week we could've had the best league sewn up some time ago - I'm just as guilty as anyone & so it is with heavy heart I say this.
Apologies to members I haven't mentioned, I mean no offense
Good Luck in our final week I'm gonna get my first draft of picks sorted now... _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

All data remains. The game continues
Argentine match : Independiente v River Plate
RP is tied first with the best goal different and totally focused in this championship. After a bad week, last sunday they recover with a large win home and the spirit of the team raises. RP is unbeaten home but their away record is poor 2W2D2L. Independiente is tied 5th with 5W0D1L home and has the best 6-form. I can not find arguments to expect a RP win but I think I am objective -you know - preview a draw in this match. Independiente has never won this match neither home nor away in this century, last 3 matches in Avellaneda (their city) have been draws.
The draw bet although not totally confident is worthful. It has the highest points(83) while RP is the favorite giving 46, it seems that many people has read this thread and learned reading me that River Plate is the best football team in the world , a life of suffering has taught me lesson 2: they not always win .
I put my joker here to 1-1 .
Brazilian match: Gremio v Flamengo
Both have won the only match played in this championship G away and F home. Last 5 h2hs has been a home win
Last year Flamengo ended 4th and Gremio 7th both with a 12/4/3 record home.Fl record away was 5/6/8 and Gr record 5/3/11.
This figures confirms the tendency of a home win and justifies Gremio being the favorite in FWLP.
good luck
PS I am starting a PM chain so nobody forgets to fill this week form. _________________ tipstonga
