|

This is real money and we currently have £1261.75 in the OLBG betting fund.
As the season has progressed the debate has become better, more informed, sensible and inciteful. Well done everyone. Some results have not gone for us and we have lost money, but lets finish with some wins and claw some money back.
We now have 4 categorys. This thread is for the 1x2 discussion and poll. Please add your reasoned posts and vote on which match we should go for in this category as our choice.
Remember our funds are growing and to work out the downside as well as the potential profit.
Stage 3 Thursday/Friday
Then for the final decision thread. We will be having a poll
Stage 4 Friday
We then poll for the stake with lots of options (in units of 100) and take the weighted average of all votes rounded to the nearest £50. |

fulham or reading for me
other games could be anything so cant be confident
fulham and reading have to win..simple as that.. fulham know they can win and stay up whereas reading have to hope they win and fulham dont
reading playing derby which is a godsend for them but havent scored for 6 games
fulham trickier at pompey but have hot some form, and pompey have cup final on their minds...
fulham BetterBet for me and 2.1 is decent |

Only 2 bets here makes sense according to our scenario and the target of beating the Bookies so assuming a big stake: Ev-Nc and Mi-MC .
From them I prefer the second because many facts support the idea of an Everton triumph (AV supporters expectations set aside) .
Middlesbrough and Manchester City playing for nothing are more probable to draw without any effort (0-0 perhaps). So my vote is for
Middlesbrough v Man City - Draw @ 3.3
good luck _________________ tipstonga

Please no more Villa bets!!
Looking at the options, both Reading and Fulham HAVE to win and the one I like is Fulham at Pompey. Reading are really struggling and are withoout a goal in over 6 games since beating Birmingham. Fulham on the other hand have picked up and shown great spirit to give themselves a chance when they looked doomed recently.
Fulham to beat Pompey @ 2.1[b[/b]][/b] |

Only 1 option that I'm liking of the choices available. Well, that's not strictly true but the AH option on the Fulham match is a superior option than the straight win (given that it's better odds for essentially the same result) & the odds for Reading are too short IMO.
Not sure about the Villa bet. Could be a formality for them but West Ham are a touch unpredictable - witness the draw against Newcastle - and this could be any result IMO.
It's my view that Everton will beat Newcastle & secure 5th spot. That immediately rules out the first draw option.
Down to my choice, Boro v City : Draw, two teams looking to try & move up a space in the table - other than that, there's not much for them to play for. I feel the draw is the most likely result. _________________ How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

i've gone with the villa game as I feel it is the most likely winner and decent value here.
however i agree with the person who's getting sick of villa bets to some extent!
we've over bet villa a few times and they haven't always come in. probably not my bet of the week but best of these selections for me.
West Ham not particularly interested in these final games while villa must win to give themselves best chance of getting 5th place. a poor result for them last week but they know what they need to do here and will be all out to get the result and shold have too much motivation for WEst Ham. |

Can`t have Reading win over Derby at 1.53...could be an upset..and Reading can`t score. I like the draw here.
Evert v Newcastle could go any way...very unpredictable imo.
Fulham win BetterBet in A/H.
W Ham v Villa is a possible Villa win...but odds of 2.2 don`t make this an attractive bet.
My choice is the Draw...Midd v M City....because I can`t see either team winning!!
Would need about £400 to make it worthwhile. |

Of these I've gone for the Everton Newcastle draw, Newcastle have improved and have drawn a few recently away from home, Everton are limping somewhat towards 5th place, although they comfortably held Arsenal for most of the game, and Europe so I think they'd be happyish with a point to secure 5th place.
Please don't pick Reading - a team in terrible form away from home at 1/2 doesn't strike me as a value bet - even at Derby. |

Have found a thread to vote on!.
Villa for me. West Ham have finally got some consistency - being absolutely rubbish every minute of every game! Villa still totally up for it whereas West Ham have been shot for at least the last for 6 or 7 weeks now. (We only didn't get our Newc bet come in because The Magpies were equally as poor on that day. Grrr). _________________ Steve |

agreed...odds look tempting but they have no form whatsoever...would have been happy to back them (even with their poor away record) had they show signs of life recently, but they've now gone 6 games without a goal and so can't be backing them.
have gone for the fulham win @ above evens. Would not be surprised to see 1.83 in places before KO on Sunday, all the momentum is with Fulham, honestly i think that Pompey have been poor for the past few weeks, indifferent home form throughout the whole season...Fulham should nick it if they just turn up and show half of the desire and attitude they've shown in the last couple of games.
With Bullard and McBride in the side, you know you'll always get 100% effort and so motivation should not be a worry, even if they find themselves needing a goal in the last few mins. _________________ Corner vulture

| Can't pick Villa because of the 'Barry talking to Liverpool' effect, can't pick Reading as no goal threat. Defoes last game for Ports this season so may want to score v Fulham. That only leaves Midd v ManC for me, both teams boring and probably both happy with a draw to finish off the seaosn. 3.4 looks good for Boro draw. |
