With the F1 season only 53 days away there isnt much time to get your bets on. Oh...what do you mean. Must just be me who cant wait. Still im excited as il be hammering Ferrari will my biggest bet ever as im 100% convinced they cant lose (famous last words). Still I wont go all silly.

Here are my F1 season bets. With all the changes in teams and a few exciting young drivers I think this will be an exciting season especially as there is no Michael Schumacher (not a fan of the person but genius driver). Good luck with your bets.

Constructors Championship - Ferrari 4/5 - Maximum 10pt Bet

With all teams using the Bridgestones tyres this year Ferrari will have a advantage over the other teams. Bridgestone have been suppling Ferrari for years and their tyres were primarily designed for the Ferrari team. As a result Ferrari will already have a detailed history of how the tyres work under different conditions. The difference between getting tyre setup right or wrong is generally accepted to be around a second a lap. It also helps that Ferrari looked very strong at the end of last season with Massa looking more and more impressive as the season progressed. I was tempted to go for Raikkonen as a main bet this season but the threat of Massa means 7/4 isnt worth risking a maximum even though IMO Massa is the only threat.

Drivers Championship - Kimi Raikkonen 7/4 - 5pt

Although I have mentioned 7/4 isnt worth a maximum bet I believe Kimi will be crowned F1 champion in 2007 but Massa will run him close so a cover bet on Massa will cover the bases. Alonsos McLaren will have to improve on performance and reliablity if he is to figure and the other drivers have either too little F1 experience, a slow car or not enough ability to challenge the Ferraris.

Drivers Championship - Massa 5/1 - 1pt

As mentioned above this is a cover bet if Massa continues the form of late last season he will push Raikkonen all the way.

I agree Ferrari will be the team to beat, but it's not going to be a walk in the park.

The bridgestone tyres are not the same as last season, add to that they will use two different compounds in the race and it will make whole tyre issue a whole new ball game.

Also Ferrari have made what I would consider a strange move by changing to a zero keel set-up. Autosport reported teams who have switched to this in the past have taken about half the season to adjust and get the set-up correct. Could work in their favor or against them????

Its going to be a tough one to call. My money's staying in my pocket until more testing has been done.

Felipe Massa is the man for me, and at odds of 5.1 I'll definatly be having a big back bet, with the intention of tading some off during the season.

I think Kimi is a weak fav for the title, and with Alonso now in a weaker car, he has it all to do.

5.1 is far too big for Massa in my opinion.

Picked up a copy of "Metro" this morning at the station and inside Felipe Massa says that he thinks the two people to watch this season will be Lewis Hamilton (McClaren) & Heikki Kovalainen (Renault), on the first driver Massi said that he has known him for some time and that he has shown good performance and good style. Massa thinks he will be the surprise of the year. 20/1 for both of them, but can't see either of them winning the title to be honest, maybe backing one of them for a podium position on the opening weekend might be of interest?

Currently the odds are

Hamilton 1.63
Alonso 3.3

Massa is 15s, Kimi 27s and the rest 300+

After the Canadian GP I posted saying I think Alonso is my pick, and after today's US GP win for Hamilton (which opened up a 10pt lead), I'm sticking with Alonso. Alonso has the experience, and after fighting off a stacked deck against Schumi last year, I feel he has the mental strength to turn this around. Hamilton has experienced no negatives this season, so we dont know how he'll react, although admittedly, he does seem very self confident and setbacks probably wont affect him too much.

I'd love to see Hamilton win the title and prove me wrong, but the 3.3 on Alonso just looks far too big to avoid, and Hamilton's 1.63 is ridiculously short.[/quote]

I think there are some great bets for todays french gp. Ferrari have made their inevitable comeback and seem to have levelled things up with Maclaren. The french gp is all about carrying speeds through the straight parts which ferrari can do very well, maclaren don't seem to have the raw pace of the ferraris which should disadvantage them too much today. I can see Massa leading from the front with hamilton up the rear most of the way, would love to see him win again but i think the sensible money is with Massa today.

Massa for the race win at 5/4 Mad
Massa to get the fastest lap of the race at 9/4 1st

good luck everyone...

could be a good time to Lay McClaren for top constructor.

they are currently facing charges over receiving confidential informaiton from Ferrari

If found guilty they could be kicked out of the championship or deducted points.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/6295410.stm

McClaren are currently 1.5 to win the championship. Be aware that as it involves Ferrari there's a chance that they could be get charges at some point also.

i've decided to have a little bet on BMW, Renault and (as a result of someone taking the only decent price available on Ferrari) a small Lay on McClaren!

Well after todays win in the Japanese Grand prix it surely must be all over, 12 points in front with 2 races to go its going to take something special from Alonso for him to win it now. Just finish the 2 races Hamilton!

The way he drove today in the Japanese grand prix was great, even after his collision with Kubica he still managed to hold on and get the win. Oh and i don't like to see Alonso not finish the race.

Quote:
Fernando Alonso has backed Formula 1's investigation into World Championship rival Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton took a huge step towards winning Alonso's world title with victory at the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday.

But the 12-point gap he holds over his McLaren team-mate now looks in serious danger after race stewards launched a probe into his driving behind the safety car on lap 45.

Red Bull's Mark Webber and Toro Rosso's Sebastian Vettel have stated the Brit was driving dangerously before they crashed.

Relations between reigning world champion Alonso and his rookie team-mate Hamilton have been strained throughout the year, and the Spaniard has now sparked even more controversy.

Hamilton has been accused of breaking and accelerating recklessly in the final section of the Fuji Speedway, and Alsonso has joined the criticism of his team-mate.

"I also overtook Lewis two or three times, so it seems that we all agree," Alonso said.

"It's difficult to know what the car in front of you needs to do.

"I didn't see the race on TV but, hearing the comments of the drivers, they seemed to overtake the car in front a couple of times and had to make some unnecessary manoeuvres to avoid the cars in front."

After his retirement in Japan things had looked bleak for Alonso, but should Hamilton be docked 10 points or pushed back to 10th for the Chinese Grand Prix the Spaniard's hopes of retaining his crown will dramatically increase.

What complete nonsense. I've seen the replays and no way did he cause a crash. If he gets stripped of the 10 points for this then its total rubbish. Even being pushed back to 10th for the Chinese GP is harsh. Webber and Vittel only have themselves to blame, blaiming Hamilton is a joke.

Since my post above, Hamilton has been cleared of any wrongdoing, and so retains his 12 point championship lead.

Rather fortunate? Maybe but then again the vast improvement McLaren showed compared with last season must have been aided considerably by information stolen from Ferrari. Maybe the final result was the correct result?

Tax Free, about 10 mins after the end the of the GP, I started thinking "Maybe justice has been done after all".

Regardless though, McLaren blew it in the previous GP, leaving Hamilton out too long with dodgy tires.

Congrats to Kimi though, never thought he had a chance at any stage this year.

I must say one thing though. F1 appointed an official to make sure McLaren showed no favouritism, but then Ferrari blatantly swtiched Massa and Kimi to give Kimi the championship. Total contradiction. Yes I know it wasnt "obvious", but they clearly did.

The commentators made it worse by spending all race saying "Ferrari will make Massa move over for Kimi", then ONCE saying "its illegal". Then at the end they said Massa did the honourable thing by moving over!
