CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES: Sunday May 20th

Not sure how much interest there'll be in this but thought I'd set one up for us to have an added interest in some of the games this summer. I'm a bigger fan of hurling but there'll be more football games shown outside of Ireland and it's a lot more open than the hurling as there are several counties that could win this. I've kept the point scoring as simple as I can because the format of the competition itself is pretty confusing. Cheeky Embarassed Confused

If you can read through the rest of this and understand what's going on then you're very welcome to copy + paste the entry form (end of post) with your own picks below. Very Happy Wink

Prizes

Winner = £10

Runner-up = £5

Points

Provincial Runner-up = 1pts
Provincial Champion = 2pts
Quarter Finalist = 3pts
Semi Finalist = 6pts
Runner-up = 9pts
All Ireland Champion = 12pts

* these will be added on all the time - ie. if Kerry are Munster champions they will get at least 5pts. (Provincial Champion) 2pts + (Quarter Finalist) 3pts.

* Reason - All provincial champions automatically go into the quarter finals but a loser in the first round could also make the quarter finals so that is why the points are like this. Smile

The Challenge

Pick 2 teams from each province and they will score points for you throughout the season. Remember, even if one of your teams loses their first match they can still win the Championship via the "back door" - all losing teams get a second chance by going into a knockout competition. There will be four eventual qualifiers from this competition and they will go into a draw (along with the 4 provincial winners) to decide who plays who in the quarter finals.

full details on the the qualifier structure (knockout comp for losing teams):

Round 1 - This Round shall include all the counties that do not qualify for the Provincial Semi-Finals. An Open Draw shall be made to give eight pairings.

Round 2 - Each of the eight defeated teams in the Provincial Semi-Finals shall play against the eight winners from Round 1. A draw shall be made to determine the eight pairings.

Round 3 - The eight winners from Round 2 shall participate in this Round. An Open draw shall be made to determine the four pairings.

Round 4 - Each of the four teams defeated in the Provincial Finals shall play against the four winners from Round 3. A draw shall be made to determine the four pairings.

All Ireland Quarter-Finals: explained above

Selection 4=Outright Points x5-
Selection 5=Outright Points x4-

ps. If you're lost after all this then don't worry as I'll answer any questions and post updates of results/scores etc. as I go along. All you have to do at the end of the day is pick 2 teams from each province and mark them from 8 down to 1 in terms of strength. Smile
