hi,
i play quite a bit of darts and ive seen from reading down this page that a few of you are interssted in darts and have been looking for a couple of decent bets. so i just thought id do a post to share a bit of knowlegde i have. i wish i could have done this before the matchplay as i had some realy good and some big price winners over the week.
so i hope some of you take note of the names i throw up, i no not all will do great but im sure you will pick up if backed at the right times which im sure ill pop on and tell you hope you enjoy the read..
first i will start with the bdo,
the lakeside looks very weak this year with most of there players going into the pdc which is why ive been bugging the bookies for a price on SCOTT WAITES. they have now opened betting with him at 16/1. maybe a bit short for someone never to have played there but could and will cause many shocks and make a name for himself this new year. he is the yorkshire captain, which isnt a easy thing, yorkshire are THE top county in the country for darts and to play for yorkshire is a very big thing so to be there captin is an even bigger thing. this year he set himself out to get to the lakeside and i think has picked up 3 titles in the opens and made many latter stages, (might be more) he has such a consistant game and there are very few in the bdo that will beat him.
STEVE FARMER.. has alot of skill very good player again never been on the tele but is a full england international and never performs bad for our country, he always puts in a top performance and quite alot of the time takes the shine away from the main stream tv players.maybe not on for the title but one to take a few wins and maybe one to be backed until he losses,
JONNY NIJS..never seems to be going all out to make the lakeside, but comes from the same team as van gerwen, played in the euro youth cup with van gerwen and 2 others and them stole the show, nijs was always the one tipped for big things, he was the best youth holland had to offer for a long time but never seems to be pushing it, he is currently sat in rank 42 so hopefuly will push it on and make the lakeside this year currently not in the betting (like farmer) so could go in as a big outsider so draw depenant could make a very nice first round bet,
pdc darts
problem with tips on these is the places ive been watching like colin osbourne and james wade are now with the bookies big players so its hard to find a price about them so im starting to look down the ranks again for the next wave,
the wave of bdo players to switch have been very good and have impressed both on the floor and on the big stage, one who i still have doubt about is terry jenkins a player who i persoanly thing is playing over par, yes he is a very good player and i backed him when he broke in and he made some good money, but i dont think he is a top flyer like he is at the moment, most of it is confidance and when that takes a knock or two so will his game, i think give him another 2 maybe 3 tournements then a first round knock out and you will look at him same as mardle and dudbridge top players who just dont seem to get over the second round hurdle.
a young breakout from the PDC id like to tip KEVIN MCDINE he is a ex-england youth from many years ago, he has been playing for a long time with the pro's and ajusting to the big time pdc ways, it took him some time to get his feet there but he is on his way, he is picking up some good placing in the events and climing the pdc ranking list, he came in at bolton in round 4 and lost 8-7 to 1/4 finalist alan green, mcdine is a hot talent and if he can break thorugh the very hard system to make another major like with jonny draw depending could run in a big price for us, oh id also like to add he did quilfy for the IDL which is a premier darts event in holland, its like a joint pdc bdo event and he didnt disgrace himself there either playing agaisnt the top 12 from both companys,
as events pop up ill jump in and have my 2 cents on them, hope this helps someone
cheers

just to update people about the selection for the lakeside SCOTT WAITES
he is playing in the darts trophey at the moment which is made up of the top pdc and bdo players and he has made it to the alst 16 so far after beating matchplay champion james wade last night
scott is also invited into the darts grand slam so expect prices to drop if not taken soon |

Another update
THe lad i tipped to be the next young pdc breakout KEVIN MCDINE yesterday got though to one of the biggest events of darts history the grand slam, feature just the champions of both bdo and pdc,
he beat jason clark ( the lad who took me out in round 3) 5-2 in the final along with kevin painter wes newton and many other of the top names, and beat them well 5-2 5-1 etc.
check out www.planetdarts.co.uk for the full revieiw of yesterdays event and see that this lad has talent |

I'm a Stevenage lad and play 3 times a week. I have grown up playing in the same leagues as Denis Ovens and was wondering if anyone (especially Mat) had any views on Den's game and why he seems to struggle to transfer his floor play onto the big tv stage?
Thanks Tubes |

There are alot of players who can play better on stage and some are floor players, For example wayne mardle realy finds it hard to play on the floor, It goes to the level of focas, On a stage you have people watching you all eyes on you and you have to watch what your doing, Which is again a reason why some people find it harder, all eyes on you can make people over nervous and it goes down to the type of person you are. Ive played agsint dennis ovens myself on a floor round at blackpool and i can confirm what you say in the fact this guy does not show his bets on tv. Everyone says its a matter of time before he shines but with things getting harder at the top and with the bdo players jumping ship he is going to have to get his head around this problem very soon.
Dennis is showing signs of it now but there are many players who just dont, Look at james wade how often did he go out first round before he fires like he does now. Wes Newton such a good player so hard to beat for anyones standard unless its a tv game,
It just is the way some people are and you only get so long to get used to it, _________________ OLBG'S RESIDENT DART PLAYER
