Downhill skiing starts in Europe tomorrow, with the famous Downhill from the Val Gardena in the dolomites.

Fastest in training in faster conditions on Thursday was the improving canadian Eric Guay, who favourite Walchofer himself has said is the man to beat. He can be backed for a place at 2-1, which looks to me to be cracking bet. On the nose he is a tasty-looking 9-1

The main dangers are Walchofer, Cuche, and Miller - the only skiers to get within a second of him in training
