I dont see many talk about Boxing on OLBG although a few fights do get discussed on the forum I thought I would take things a step further and start a Boxing Blog
This will start tonight with the Pickering-Hughes fight and I will do all fights that are covered here in the UK and once in a while a few fights in America on HBO or ESPN.
I hope you enjoy the Blog and you find it a good read, and I hope I can give you some Winners |

| Jones should win this.A ring rusty Trinidad at Light heavyweight just won't cut it. Probably carrying excess weight he doesn't need. Trinidad is good but he's not a great like Roy Jones. Yes Trinidad beat Oscar de la Hoya but I believe Oscar outboxed him just did not catch the judges eyes with enough telling blows. I think roy Jones will out box Trinidad and possibly stop him. |

| Roy Jones Junior at 1/4 has to be a certainty. Felix Trinidad hasn't fought for nearly three years and Roy is looking ripped at the weigh-in - he's even talking about Joe Calzaghe once he beats Felix, so he's definitely more confident. There's also the Felix-weight problem issue around - can he do well at 170lbs? I don't think so, as he's operated best at welterweight (147lbs) when he beat Oscar de la Hoya and Hugo Pineda and light middleweight (154lbs) when he beat Fernando Vargas. Putting about 10lbs of fat on won't serve him well so get on Roy on points or KO/TKO - I personally will be going outright winner. |

I'm going to go against the grain of most boxing fans here and predict a Jermain Taylor win.
I'm basing this on the last performance, as I had Taylor winning by two points before he was stopped. And if he didn't try to put Pavlik into the ground in that second round he wouldn't have gassed so early. He should take his time this time around and we all know that Taylor could easily out-box Pavlik if he used his head and avoided Pavlik's big right hand and uppercut. He also would've certainly trained harder this time around (I saw in training and he looks ripped and very determined) and should be more energetic in the later rounds. Plus Taylor's already had Pavlik on queer street already so his punches can definitely hurt Pavlik - he just needs to box sensibly and be prepared to go twelve gruelling full rounds.
I don't think the 166lbs catchweight limit will make a massive difference anyway. |
