PostPosted: Sun Jan 20, 2008 3:27 pm    Post subject: suggestion: OLBG KING-TIPSTERS TABLE

It is just an idea to discriminate the best active tippsters ('cause we are a lot registered) with a combination of hard creteria. It could be only for glory if the developers cannot afford other prizes.

Total table places: 100, consisted of

TOP 20 overall profit tipsters last 12 months
TOP 20 LSP profit tipsters last 12 months
TOP 20 ROI profit tipsters last 12 months
TOP 20 total pize money winners last 12 months
TOP 10 forum posters last 12 months
TOP 10 profitable bloggers last 12 months
------------------------------------------------
TOTAL:100

Consition justification: rewarding the best in LSP, ROI & Profit, strengthen the forum and the bloggers but with the following hard creteria to find out the real OLBG KINGS:

1. Registered 12 months ago and past
(this will reward the old active members and give to the newer ones motive to continue)

2. At least 100 tips in the last 12 months
(this will ensure that the members of that table are active tipsters)

3. At least 30.000 stakes in the last 12 months (this will ensure that the members of that table are active tipsters and do not place stake:50 in every tip)

4. Strike rate>50% in the last 12 months
(this will exclude all those who have earned high profit by some few lucky tips with high odds and additionally will reward those who have more successfull tips than lost tips)

5. At least 6 of the last 12 months profitable
(this will reward consistency and all those who have more profitable months than with losses)

6. At least 3 exams passed at OLBG school ( An OLBG KING TIPSTER must be sure that he knows the basics in gambling)

7. At least 1 month POPULAR or CONSISTENT in the last 12 months
( to ensure that the tipsters will not become populrar just because they belong to that table)

I believe that I have included all the nessecary parameters in order somebody to be charakterized as OLBG KING and promoted to the new suggested league. Every statistic measure and achivement has been added in order to find THE TOP of THE TOPS.

I would like to hear your opinions and maybe extra ideas in order to become more fair.

p.s. I do not fulfil most of the above conditions so I do do not place the idea in order to show myself.

Thanks for the ideas

We are planning something like aimed at bothhighlighting and rewarding the most successful tipsters

Youve given us some great ideas

I would like to build in something relating to people who give reasons with their tips although not necessarily exclude people who dont

We do have more money for prizes this year and this is the main area we will be focusing on

You know, many of us including me , do not have the time to write useful comments. I mean news etc. from each league. An idea for those who give analysing comments every day is to chose the best and the most consistent in comments and to promote them (if they want) as news representatives from each country or sport. This will upgrade the news section. Those have to be willing to infom us (maybe get a prize too) every day with useful information of what they know better. For example I could help for the greek league etc.

As far as the criteria I mentioned above, I just asked myself who is a good tipster for OLBG and the answer was simple: active, usually profitable, consistent or popular with good statistics in a long term and not only a month or six, with helpful forum comments or blog, and gambling expert.

We are more that 30.000 and the standards are getting higher and higher. You have developed an simple idea to the greatest tippsters page and I find it very interesting to know the best of the best among us!!!
Cheers!

I like most of those ideas, I'd also suggest something like

*Positive LSP over the last 12 months, and in at least 9 of the last 12 months

Also maybe integrate profitable bloggers into the table somehow? There are a few very good bloggers on here, but Im not sure if its possible to combine blogs with the table? Confused

Betking,
any idea that could filter the tipsters in a fairer way is useful.
Maybe, the developers, when they decide such a table to create , can 'cause a poll of the creteria that should be considered. I will support any strengthen of difficulty considering the criteria in any case that has to do with the quality characteristics of every tipster and not some lucky total profits.

Also Antony, I don´t know how difficult this is but I wonder, if you apply just for a test, the above 7 criteria to all the tipsters, how many canditates would remain to consist such a table.

PROO Smile

As im in the same TEAM as you Smile maybe we should ask that team members have to remain loyal rather than changing everymonth to try and catch a prize elsewhere?

I know that our team for instance has been the same for 6 months now, surely that in itself should be a positive incentive for a TOP TIPSTER?

Anyway, i think your initial idea is excellent. Win

Dave.

Ok, I think that a couple of problems pop up with this but I do like the idea a lot and I think its great that you have spent the time to think about this, full marks to ya 1st ...

First of all, number 3...

Quote:
3. At least 30.000 stakes in the last 12 months (this will ensure that the members of that table are active tipsters and do not place stake:50 in every tip)

There's nothing wrong with placing £50 in every tip, people who do this (like me nowerdays), will have EXACTLY the same record in terms of success as those who put £100, £200, and even £500 on every tip, in terms of both ROI & LSP, the only thing that would differ is their monetary profit value. It would also force people who are generally ticking along nicely to start placing more on their tips, and this may mean them cutting down on the number of tips they make, I would rather make 6 tips I think have a good shout @ £50 each, rather than making 1 @ £300.

I don't think that a low strike rate means that someone is "lucky" so to speak, in a sense we all need an element of luck, but I am very aware of a tipper who has a 25% strike rate, yet he is one of the most consistent and profitable tipsters to follow (or should I say was Cheeky ). I wouldn't expect anyone to be "that" successful. Off the top of my head I can think of only 1 or two tipsters who will fit the above two categories who don't hit the SR solely on Lay tips. One of those is sure to reply to this thread in due time Very Happy

I do like the rest of the criteria though, especially the Betting School idea, it would also be encouragement for members to learn some of the ins & outs of betting, which would be a very good addition in my eyes Win

I always think that one tip at 300 instead of 6 tips at 50 tends to concentrate the mind better.

Maybe it's just me. Confused

Supercat,

6 @ £50, or 1 @ £300: I think it’s just horses for courses really.

Like you, I make very few real money bets – just six so far this year.

But if your approach to betting throws up lots of similar bets, like Inatimate, then backing many of those at small stakes will reduce variance, which is always good.

Also, I think Inatimate was talking about backing tips on OLBG, where funds are strictly limited, rather than real money backing, where personal bankroll is the only issue.

Inatimate1,
All that you said are correct. What I didn't explain well is the word "lucky".
I remind you that I tried to create a filter in order to find the top of the tops and not just the consistent ones(there is already such a table). This is why I believe that a top tipster sould have a good strike rate in a long term. This will make him more trustfull to follow.

As far as the stakes, I believe that every stake between 50-500, doesn't only express the tipster's estimation but also his confidence. I don't like tipters who place 50 in 20 exact scores(3-2, 2-4, etc) in order to catch just one or two and get high profits. In any case 30.000 in a whole year is very low, about 2500 per month. Check your stakes and you will see.

Bluediamond, I totally agree. I believe that you shouldn't change team ever month. Maybe every 6 is OK.

As I was name checked in a round about fashion I'll just comment on the strike rate issue.

Its long been a bee in my bonnet that a good strike rate does not equal long-term profit. Some manage it & well done to them - Dammo comes to mind - but in horse racing especially it all aout value & that means lower strike rate as its not all about finding winners.

75% of my tips lose - doesn't look good when expressed like that & many wouldn't be able to cope with the psychological side of that statement. but i consistently make profit. Some may call it luck but over 2,000 bets the luck part disappears.

Encourage a lower strike rate - it will mean better profits!! Unlucky

Those that swim against the tide become stronger - oh wise one!!
