2.10 Huntingdon - GREEN PROSPECT 3rd - Last 3 tries at 2 miles failed when he struck the crossbar once and finished third twice. 1 furlong more could prove to be a good move and with less runners than the previous three trips, this could give Green Prospect the chance to gain his first win since mid November last year.

2.45 Huntingdon - AUTOGRAPH Lose - Struck the crossbar on the last two occasions but he could bag his first win since May 2007. Very rarely out the places and will go well again today.

3.40 Plumpton - GEOGRAPHY NAP 2nd - Struck the crossbar on 3 occasions in a row before winning last time out at this course. He is also the only horse in the 7 runner to have won at C and D. Only other horse to be in winning form in the race is MAGNIFICO but with 7lbs extra to carry, Geography could be the one to be on.

(ADDED ON 24TH MARCH AT 11.52)
3.55 Huntingdon - BALLYGALLEY BOB NB 2nd - He was set to run at Chepstow today aswell and I was just waiting to find out where he would run. He runs at Huntingdon today and his main rival in the Race, The Ring, has pulled out so I believe this should be an easy success. Only other horse to have won at the distance in this race is Rare Society but he hasn't won since late August 2006.

5.05 Huntingdon - BILLESEY 1st 3/1 - Billesey is the only horse in this race to have any winning form and one of two to have won at the distance. Providing he doesn't make a mistake this should be a double for him.

5.20 Chepstow - JOKERS LEGACY 1st 13/8 - Jokers Legacy has ran twice in his career finishing second and first last time out. He won that at Uttoxeter in the same conditions as what is forecasted for Chepstow. He is up against NULATO in this race and Nulato has already got the better of him when Jokers Legacy finished second. That win was by just a shoulder and with Nulato having a double penalty to overcome, I believe my selection will get the better of him this time.

Started off without a winner in 4 races but the last two saved me Very Happy

IRISH NATIONAL FAIRYHOUSE
ALEXANDER TAIPAN Approx 12/1
Looks to of been prepared for this race specifically . Been hurdling this season until last time out when given a sighter over bigger obstacles at Thurles and coming 2nd to Cailin Alainn 2m2f kept on when one paced suggesting need for longer trip . Dont think he was meant to win that day and connections probably happy with the outcome considering first chase for sometime . Career record over the bigger obstacles is quite good 2nd 2nd 1st 1st 2nd and proven on heavy going he has the more than capable Ruby on him and their chase record together is 2nd 1st 2nd plus the horse is 1 / 1 here . Has to prove he can get the trip but has the form and ability probabally be in the top 5 going round and try to kick on 4 out taking the sting out of any finishers if indeed there are any on this going

SUPSONIC (no odds found) Lose Mad

SUPSONIC joined the Price yard after his run when well beaten by Gaspara at Cheltenham last term, and though yet to prove his ability for the new yard there could be more than one reason and he gets the nod to return to winning ways today. The selection gained his only victory in France on the flat on soft ground in Deauville and having gone well on his UK and jumping debut before running out in goo-to-soft he returned next month to beat Pouvoir by 12 lengths on soft ground at Sandown. He then was sent to Chepstow where he finished fourth in soft ground to Goodbye Simon in the Champion Finale Juvenile Hurdle Grade 1 before finishing fourth to Pauillac and Grand Bleu giving weight away in heavy conditions. Having shown little at Cheltenham in the Fred Winter he joined his current yard where his only starts to date have been in a hot handicap at Sandown won by The Tother One and on good ground three times, each start for his new yard has been over a trip that has not really suited having gone well till the business end in each run. He is now down to a very attractive mark of 115, and given the fact he gets his ground and trip today a big run looks on the cards. 5lb claimer Jack Doyle takes the ride and he looks good value for his claim having shown his talents for Victor Dartnall this term, and boasting a 25% SR at this course. Yard have not been going to bad of late and looks to have an outstanding chance here.

A NEW STORY (no odds found) Win 4th

25 runners to choose from and a race where plenty of people always claim to have found the winner, Beef or Salmon goes to post, which puts many of the runners out of the handicap, Alexander Taipan is a horse I would really love to see fulfil his potential but his jumping is not the greatest and until that changes he will struggle at this level. Royal County Star is respected and is the subject of a good old gamble but he is now no value at all at 7/2 and though plenty will be happy to see him take this, I for one will not be and pass over. Mattock Ranger has impressed with his staying talents this term and ground should not be a problem but a rising mark and the fact that Paul Carberry opt for Well Run is and he is also passed over. Well Run has done me plenty of favours this term, and was a really good price when comfortably winning last time, but this is tougher and if adopting the same tacticcs here could be a sitting duck. Cailin Allain's current mark looks fair and he is set to go well, but over this further trip on his last run Alexander Taipan could come out better, there are plenty of others to consider but preference has to go to A NEW STORY, a real veteran in this race who deserves to have his day, returned to form at Cheltenham in the same race in which Butlers Cabin progressed from last term, Michael Hourigan is really impressed with the way he has beeen slowly coming back to hand and this has been his target long before Cheltenham. He travelled so well when in the Cross Country at Cheltenham and was undisgraced against Edna Bolgers Grand Champetre there. He will see the trip out in its entirety and will love any cut in the ground and though it is disapointing McNamara opts to ride Ballistraw 5lb claimer Hassett is a good replacement, and theoretically puts him just 2lb out of the handicap today, which is feasable, yard are among winners and 33/1 is a fair price.

THUNDEROUSAPPLAUSE (no odds found) - WITHDRAWN, Not under starters orders.

3.55 Fairyhouse (Irish National) Newbay Prop E/W
Running off a good mark today and by no means is Newbay Prop outclassed. Not the cleanest jumper in the world but is genuine and always gives 100%. Wearing blinkers and has a strong Jockey onboard today who will hopefully concentrate it's mind on the job at hand.
P/U in a race won by Sea Diva in early December came back three weeks later and beat Sea Diva by 5lengths. Newbay Prop is a course and distance winner and it showed it's staying power this time last year with a 12l third (staying on at finish) behind Baron Windrush over 4m1f. Is sure to be there at the finish IF it jumps well.

Chepstow-
3.35- Leading Authority- I fancy this to come down to the good two stayers in this. Leading Authority is coming into this off an unseating, but this event should be ok as it should be soft enough for him to bring his staying into it. Shardakhan was ridden by tizzard in the past but today has a poor 5lb claimer on board and that’s all the weight he gets on his rival.

BALDINI (no odds found) Lose

Gamble going ahead on this one since opening show, dropped 13lb since last seen on the flat, when undisgraced in better races and should hold every chance now!!!

Baldini has not been seen on the flat for well over 500 days, and was last seen jumping 93 days ago, but the handicapper has really given Joanna Morgan's runner a real chance dropping him to a mark of 52. Rated 79 as a three year old, he was hard to place, and after a torrid time he put in some fair efforts lastly off a mark of 65. He has since been jumping and now returns to the flat. Well handicapped now and with more to come this 5 year old can open his account here.

GRAND VALUE (no odds found) - WITHDRAWN, Not under starters orders.

2.00 Redcar Morristown Music
I narrowed it down to two horses Morristown Music and Comptonspirit. I have gone with Morristown Music as it has the better draw although i will do a bit of Dutching with the two.

Morristown Music likes plenty of give in the ground whilst most of the others don't which will compensate for the weight it has to carry. The jockey gave Evelith Regent a fine ride yesterday so i have every confidence in him.
Comptonspirit (E/W) is a horse that responds to hard riding and Mulrennan will surely be up to that. It likes to be up with the pace and run for home 2 or 3 furlongs out if the draw isn't as significant as they say then it has a real chance.

2.20 Warwick Brut (NAP)
On a great mark. Won a similar race last year carrying 8lb more than it does today. It's usual Jockey rides at Redcar today so the very capable J Quinn takes the ride.

A fantastic days racing which has been helped by the cancellation of Fakenham and Yarmouth which at least gives us a bit of breathing space in between races! Have gone for a few value bets at big prices today of whom I at the very least expect a good run -

2:25 Chepstow

The Jazz Musician (NAP) @ 15/4
1st Very nice performance, and did it with a bit in hand too! Plenty more to come from this one.

Quartano steps down in Grade markedly today after being badly outclassed in the Supreme Novices at Cheltenham. Although he sets the standard this is no ordinary maiden hurdle and he has been turned over in this type of event once already. His price now is more realistic than the tissue prices but he is still worth taking on. Schiehallion ran well when just collared close home last time by Isnt That Lucky but preference is for Colin Tizzards well regarded 6 year old THE JAZZ MUSICIAN. He had been thought of as a possible for the Cheltenham Bumper but after three successive 2nds in that sphere beaten by very useful types his attentions were turned to hurdling. He ran a very good race in defeat on his first try over obstacles behind Pettifour and in truth should have probably won the race and the los that time was probably down to inexperience. The Tizzard stable had a winner the other day which is encouraging after a quiet period and there is a bit of money coming in for this one so he is the strong selection to score here. The danger could come from the talented but frustrating I Hear A Symphony if his attitude has improved from last time.

2:20 Warwick

EW Highland Warrior @ 12/1
Lose Ran ok to finish a close 5th but all the pace seemed to be with the high numbers there.

A tough race and if Tender Process is on his game first time out for Ed Mcmahon then he is a very well handicapped horse and could win doing handsprings. A good bet at a more appealing price however could be the veteran HIGHLAND WARRIOR. The 9 year old has come to hand early in most of his many seasons in training and has a very good record fresh. He also begins the season 6lbs below his last winning mark which was in a Class 3 handicap last July. This is a Class 5 and it has to be assumed that if he is on his game after a break like he usually is then he has been well placed to take advantage here. Things do have to fall right for him as a hold up horse from an inside draw but Micky Fenton who was aboard for both his wins last season knows the score with him and a big run is anticipated.

3:55 Fairyhouse

EW Homer Wells @ 20/1

A typically open which also looks of decent quality with the legendary Beef Or Salmon taking his chance at the head of the weights. Were he to win there wouldnt be a dry eye in the house but it is surely too much to ask as the umpteen times Grade 1 winners fire has burned less brightly this season now at the age of 12. The favourite Royal County Star should be difficult to beat if he continues to progress at the rate which has seen him land 2 big handicaps in the last 12 months. But there is no value in his price now as is usually the case with Tony Martins runners in this type of event and he can be taken on. Cailin Alainn makes huge appeal at the weights as she is a Graded performer waiting to happen. Her jumping though is still under the microscope after destroying her initially promising season last year. She did jump with more fluency last time but this requires different levels of concentration and she is no value at 5/1 as a result. Alexander Taipan is a big danger if he stays, as is Ballistraw after his recent impressive victory over Knight Legend who boosted the form with a 3rd in teh Grade 1 Ryanair at Cheltenham. I will be siding with the proven stayer HOMER WELLS who is the second string for Willie Mullins according to jockey bookings but that is misleading as only very rarely does Ruby Walsh get down to do low weights and Davy Condon is a very able deputy. He has proven course form and at Graded level having won here a year ago in a Grade 2, and he is also proven over the distance and in the conditions. He looked as if he was approaching somewhere near his best form when a staying on 6th in the Thyestes chase last time and it could be that he has been primed for what is the ideal race for him. He can be considered a course specialist having won 2 out of 4 races here and he has never been out of the first 3 in those 4 runs. I think connections have conceded that the Grand National will never play to his strenghs and this could be his race for the next couple of seasons. He is a big player at a big price and for me the best e/w bet of the day.

4:10 Chepstow

Schindlers Son (NB) @ 9/1

A good race in which Glad Big is contesting favouritism with Honours Dream. The former is a formerly useful miler on the flat who now the penny has dropped over obstacles is looking progressive. But there is just a slight doubt about whether he quite goes in this ground and with this the hardest assignment he will have faced to date he is passed over. Honours Dream on the other hand loves really soft conditions and a the testing nature of this track but he remains 13lbs higher than when last successful and was beaten off this mark last time in a lesser event. The one that catches my eye after having put it up as an alert a while ago is SCHINDLERS SON, who after showing nothing in Ireland ran a huge race on his debut over here for Alison Thorpe when 3rd at 50/1 7 lengths adrift of Seven Is My Number and Woolcombe Folly in a good novice at Taunton. His mark of 112 looks fair considering the reliable 115 rated yardstick Emerald Wilderness was a further 7 lengths behind in 4th that day and also given that he is open to any amount of improvement having raced only 3 times to date. If he continues that rate of improvement then he should figure strongly here on his handicap debut at a track which should suit him more than the speed test at Taunton. Last year's shock Tote Tropy winner Heathcote is a live danger having dropped to an attractive mark but I am also afraid of HREs fancy Supsonic who is quite comfortably the best of the longer priced rivals.

4:55 Redcar

EW Thunderousapplause @ 20/1

I will be joining HRE in his support for THUNDEROUSAPPLAUSE who faces a much easier task than on his last 3 starts in much better company than this, twice in Listed events and over an inadequate 6f. His only win has come over this distance and he appreciates rain softened ground. That win came when trouncing the opposition by 8 lengths which was his last drop to Class 4 company and he is only 5lbs higher here. He also seems capable of going well fresh and his in form trainer has been very bullish about his chances this morning emphasized even more by his booking of Neil Callan. Another stonking e/w bet at 20/1.

Good Luck Win

2.40- Fond of a drop – Flood takes the ride here and he looks the value in this race. He won round here on season debut and bar his Cheltenham run which was in a top event, he has run with credit in each of his races.

3.10 – publican – this looks an open race and publican comes into this off a confidence boosting win, he won here 2 years beating tiger cry. He has always looked a better hurdler so the switch back is no problem with Davy Russell booked to ride.

Fairyhouse

3.55- notre pere mattock ranger ballycullen boy,

First of all I have ruled out royal county star out of my selection process, the ground is on the soft side and im not playing a horse in a 20+ runner race that might not handle the ground. Alexander Tiapan was beaten by caillin alliann and is now 3lbs better off but I would think caillin alliann has more chance of seeing out this trip but is still a bit short considering he cant be played e/w. Well run is one with chance but he is 9lb’s out of the handicap but with carberry they could overcome that but theirs a few that look better. Preists Leap is of interest as O’Regan has picked him to ride but hes up in the weights for his gowran win, and I fancy others more.
This brings me too the three I have narrowed it down to. Notre Pere ridden by good young jockey Lynch, he has won a Grade 1 event, looks the type to stay, last run can be considered a run out to recover from fall but before that looked more than solid as he had 2wins and a 2nd over fences before that. Mattock Ranger is under a previous winner in Niall Madden, he won the cork national in November so this trip shouldn’t be a problem as long as ground doesn’t cut up too much. He will improve on his 2nd to Well Tutored last time out. Last but not least is Ballycullen boy from 2lb’s out of the handicap. Casey is well capable and takes the ride. He had ridden him at the beginning of his chasing career. Ran a cracker to finish 2nd to coldine in warm up over hurdles, and a repeat of his listowel runs would see him right up here.
