|
|
2.15 Fairyhouse - C'EST CA NB - The first at Fairyhouse today can go the way of C'est Ca who made himself a Course and Distance winner last time out with a healthy 10 length win in heavy ground. With him on a hattrick and not that many real competitors to face, I fancy him to get his hattrick today.
2.20 Fontwell - DANSIMAR NAP 1/4 - Dansimar won last time out at Chepstow easily less than a week ago. He was the odds on favourite then and will be the odds on favourite again today. He is on his hattrick today and can complete it ahead of PENTASILEA who my selection beat last time out by a good 12 lengths. AYA looks a danger being the only horse to have won at the distance and just hitting a bit of form too but Dansmiar will take some beating today.
2.30 Sedgefield - OSOLOMIO 4/5 - One of only two in the race in winning form and my selection should go down to the wire with Professor Higgins. But with the latter losing his good form from before (12-003) and with Osolomio not losing it, I fancy him to beat him today.
2.50 Fontwell - CLEYMOUR HOUSE Lay UNFORTUNATELY IT WON - I tipped Cleymour House to complete his hattrick last time out at Fontwell and he duly delivered but with a 7lb penalty and a rise in class to overcome here, I don't believe he will make it four out four. He steps up from Class 5 to 4 and his form in Class 4 doesn't make for good reading (07077). However the field isn't in any sort of form but I believe life will be difficult for Cleymour House this time out.
4.25 Fairyhouse - FIVESTAR ALSTARS - Many in with a chance going into this race but I fancy the selection to do well here. He's come second once and first twice in his last 3 races and to top that he is a course winner and a distance winner. I fancy him to go well today.
4.55 Fairyhouse - HOLD THE PIN - He has hit form over hurdles lately winning two out of four. He should go well again today and with not many others of the 19 runner hurdle in winning form, I fancy Hold the Pin to beat off the opposition today. _________________ All of us have bad luck and good luck. 3:50 Fairyhouse - PSYCHO - NAP - Recovery mission after being given too much to do in County Hurdle. This horse should be on a 4 timer today and is still improving
4:55 Fairyhouse - HOLD THE PIN - NB - Another horse from Tony Martin stable that is in form and ahead of handicapper.
4:20 Pontefract - HEAVEN KNOWS - TREBLE - Class Horse that will love the ground and was being lined up for Lincoln. This is a lot easier and should take this on the way to better things.
Good Luck

Hey guys, trying this out for the first time, so hope it works
CEST CA (no odds found)
This one has done quite well recently, winning two in a row and placing in one. Also has been a course-winner at Fairyhouse, and won one of its recent race quite comfortably. The next best competitor is Miss Fancy Pants: 2nd @ 7.5 , but Ca's course CnD is what really sets it apart.
7/10 points
DANSIMAR (no odds found)
Another decent chance here, with the horse showing same form as ca. Two wins in the past helps its cause, although, one of them came up in a level lower than one being raced today. Pentaselia: 3rd @ 8.5 comes close, but based on form, this should essentially be a three horse race, including Aya. Still, Dansimar has a very decent shot here to make it 3 in a row. Dansimar, Aya and Pentaselia finish in top 3
3/10 points
CLEYMOR HOUSE (no odds found) NB
Won 3 races in a row; the downside being they were all at a class below. Still, the horse seems to like Fontwell, and should do well to place, if not win. The next best are Sole Agent and Cadoulitique, but Cleymor should perform amicable. Sole Agent finished 2nd @ 9's
7/10 points
MISBEHAVIOUR (no odds found)
Been following this horse for the past few weeks and seems to be a good runner. Also won a race recently, and is experienced on the course as well. Nearest competitor is White on Black but Misbehavior should have this easyTwo horse tussle with WnB for quite long, but Misbehaviour nipped ahead in teh end!
3/10 points.
BURREN LEGEND (no odds found) 1st (All the smileys have been used)
Notched up a place and win recently, and seems to be in a good form, only challenged by Sir Bathwick. Still, Burren's imposing wins mean that he should take an edge above its closest competitor.
3/10 points
RIGUEZ DANCER (no odds found) NAP Was more expectant
Another racer I have been following for the past few weeks, and has won and placed in its past 3 races. The next best one is The Exit is Luck, but Riquez should have it easy. Exit didn't run, and for me, Red Wine was next in line. Still, unhappy that NAP didn't win!
9/10 points.
Other mentions:
Electric Warrior @ 1510 Pont
Jered @ 1515 Fairy 1st
Heaven Knows @ 1620 Pont
Maximix @ 1630 Font

Again. it is not a day to get to involved and todays selection will all be played at small stakes.
GLENSTAL ABBEY (no odds found)
It has been almost 1 year since we have seen the appearance of GLENSTAL ABBEY, but his fromer Aidan O'Brien runner was highly regarded and made a very encouraging debut behind Mores Wells @ Leopardstown. Subsequnet Group winner Mourilyan was just in front and, Mahler, Hypnotic Vibes & Siege Of Ennis were all in behind that day, as was subsequent winner Zafarwal and Alpine Eagle. The selection is a nicely related gelding out of Montjeu, wearing the J P McManus colours. C'Est Ca is the one they have to beat, but I found it very disapointing he never went to Cheltenham and his two victories were not in the best of company and a return to this sort of ground may not be what is required. Miss Fancy Pants is a 4 year old filly represenbting Noel Meade and the mount of Paul Carberry and having been no great shakes on the flat she accounted for Keep It Cool at Navan, that was not the greatest of races and she may not be out of her depth here in better company. Bouchard gets the attentions of Barry Geraghty and though he wasbacked last time he found little answer to an unfit SIlverhand, Spiderback or well beaten Supreme Novice entrant Beau Michael, of the others Paco Jack, Psh Lady and Right or Wrong continue to go backward, while Altnadua could figure much more prominently as when getting the better of Bouchard on his penultimate outing, but a chance is taken with Charlie Swann's Glenstal Abbey who could be the star of the show, and having been thrown in at the deep end here signs would be promising that connections stand a good chance of picking up the prize money.
MILTON OF CAMPSIE (no odds found)
Clive Brittain's runners have been in great form of late including the recently tipped Hattan and a couple of his juveniles but his juveniles usually improve for the run and his well bred daughter of Kingmambp; Khazina is entitled to need her preparations. Precipice sets a fairly good standard on her turf form as a two year old, but has not been great shakes tis term and hope relies on a return to turf today. Support for Musical Charm would be interesting, Everything could go well but it would be disapointng if there was not something better in here and preference is for MILTON OF CAMPSIE, a half sister to a decent sprinter out of a mare whose sire was a good sprinter, who looks set to enjoy conditions over a good starting point in a weak enough maiden. Owned by McKay, and trained by Parr whose youngsters have been going well including Doncaster Rover in te Brocklesby and International Debuist on the same card. The booking of the inform Chris Catlin takes the eye and she can go well here. MArket support for Deep WInter would be of interest.
BRAVE RIGHT (no odds found)
Psycho will continue to gain support here and maybe rightly so, but he has it al to do again and having fallen when in the lead off 111 on his last start in Ireland he is now 9lb higher and espite his good showing at the festival when given far to muchto do, he has to do battle with Brave Right who is a massive price/ The selection finished just in behind Barker in The Pierce Hurdle accounting for subsequent winners Silver Jaro and Jayo. the former of which held off the late rattle of Tony MArtins charge at The Festival. Brave Right has continued to struggle over fences but his hurdles form has worked out well and he can run his race yet again and pick up a prize for Leonard Whitmore. Flanagan takes the ride having impressed with his handling in The Pierce Hurdle and although Roman Villa is entitled to get closer he needs to find more and preference goes to BRAVE RIGHT, Save The Bacon another Martin runner beat Our Matti well last time, but that form continues to look average in the face of the runner-up's defeats. Alabama Banjo is an intresting oponent having not fairing to bad last time out, but he may have something to prove against The Last Hurrah who accounted for him despite the lack of a recent run.
HIGHGLEN (no odds found)
White on Black and Misbehaviour both showed there weakness's last time and are both turned out quickly yet again, as is Tashkandi. Royal Progidy culd go well but the price on offer about HIGHGLEN is huge. He is the highest rated of these as a chaser and having been campaigned over fences he retrurns to hurdling in selling company, and off a very fair mark a winning novice in Ireland he comfortably disposed of Bog Oak, rated 07 at the time, and Clear Round rated 103. He has a past of running well fresh and merits worthy attention here in this low grade affair. The drop in trip looks satisfactory and he is likely to get the race run to suit with front runner Tasjkandi in the line up and he is taken to open his account here on his first start for Evan Williams.
BENMADIGAN (no odds found)
BENMADIGAN gets the nod here after running on the soft and eavy in hs previous starts, the key to him always looked to be better ground and the fact he gets his optimum today in a poor race with Tony Dobbin on board, over 2 and 1/2 miles looks ideal and there can be no excuses. He is a very nice horse and Nicky Richards has stated how he likes this one, he remains a good prospect and if able to convert his home work to the track with conditions to suit he should be there abouts. The well bred Rimsky Korskov is another to consider considering the high hopes they held, while Osolomio is respected under his penalty.
ST JEAN CAP FERRAT (no odds found)
ST JEAN CAP FERRAT undisgraced over inadequate trips last term he still faired well in maidens that have worked out well including when behind Legislation on debut, that throughout winner after winner, and behind Ibn Khaldun at Leicester, he was also undisgrced behind Fr Dominic back at Newmarket and found only Doctor Fremantle to good at Nottingham. He will be much more suited to the step up in trip today and his form is solid. He has a task to beat Bouguereau, but it is not out of the question and the selection looked likely to improve at three, unlike the Peter Chapple-Hyam runner.
Kind Regards

4.20 HEAVEN KNOW,S
Fitness has to be taken on trust and jockey not one of my favourites but will like conditions found 1m4f just beyond him and should take to this more testing 1m2f , has won over this distance but on easier courses did win over 1m at Thirsk which has similar finish as a 3yo . Eradicate is the danger on betting but his wins were on easier tracks than this and much firmer going . Does have form on ground with cut in it but yet to win on a course like this has run at tracks that i consider to have uphill finish and managed a couple of seconds but his wins at Bath & Haydock and what seems to be a prefference for the firm makes me want to leave him out.
2.50 CLEYMOR HOUSE
3/3 with the blinkers & Charlie Poste ,conditions cant be worse than last time here idled in lead but race was won this race hardest task yet but owes me nothing and only 10st to carry keep drinking till the tap runs dry
3.20 HIGHGLEN
Trianer not in the form of his life but things do change and i will take a chance with this horse . Reasons are the fav had a hard race only 6 days ago at Chepstow my selection went striaght to chasing for P Bowen fialing to secure any sort of victory for a yard that has struggled to find winners . First run for Evan today and he has a habit of doing well in these types of race he won three times over in Ireland all on soft going before coming over to Bowens yard . Williams knows how to freshen them up and the horse has been 2nd and 4th here over chases on going possibly deemed unsuitable . I think that this horse is no forlorn hope and if change of yard combined with Irish hurdles form come in to play 6/1 may look to big at the end of this race _________________ NEVER WORRY ABOUT LOSER,S THEY ONLY BRING YOU ONE CLOSER TO YOUR NEXT WINNER

LEOPARDSTOWN
2:15 WEATHERBYS IRELAND GSB HURDLE (GRADE 3) (4yo)
C'EST CA 9-4 ~ To be frank this son of Groom Dancer was useless on the flat but hurdles really seem to have brought out the best in this horse. After an encouraging debut at Galway the Willie Mullins trained gelding broke his maiden at Punchestown in impressive fashion leading the field a merry dance. He repeated the dose at Fairyhouse and looked a serious beast that would have had a decent chance of making a mark in the Triumph hurdle. Interesting then that connections have come here instead of going to Cheltenham especially after his impressive post racing racecourse gallop a couple of weeks ago. Although both his wins have been in weaker fields than he faces today he couldn't have done it any easier and looks to have a bright future. Todays field doesn't look the strongest and it could be a good stepping stone onto bigger and better things over hurdles.
PACO JACK 9-4 ~ Looked likely to develop into a serious horse at the beginning of the season but found the step up from winning weak early season novice hurdles to graded level a step too far. The Joseph Crowley trained 4yo produced his best effort when finishing 2nd over course and distance but he had the run of the race out in front. Saddled with a 4lbs penalty he will struggle to concede that to many of his rivals and the likely strong pace should mean he won't get things his own way out in front.
ALTNADUA 9-0 ~ Looked a decidedly average novice hurdler who needed a drop into handicap company but pulled an improving performance out of the bag when beating Bouchard at Punchestown. Next time out he was stuffed out of sight when stepped up into graded company over course and distance. It could be that he needed the run after a small break but it was still a disappointing performance. It's also possible though that he was flattered by his novice hurdle win and that the horse is simply that good. The form of that novice win probably looks better than it is with the presence of Harper Valley in 3rd. That horse seemed to be a different animal with the blinkers applied at Cheltenham and the 4th horse Prospectorous went out like a light two from home as if something was amiss. The 2nd Bouchard is probably the horse to take out of the race as he should have won but for a bad jump at the last in what was only his second start over hurdles. The Michael Halford trained gelding looks a consistent sort but is probably short of graded company.
BANIAN 9-0 ~ Bought for £14k as a 2yo but was sent to the sales early this year but was unsold. Half brother to french listed hurdler Le Seychellois and the yard have a 19% strike rate in novice hurdles this season. Little else to get excited about and this looks a bold bid from connections on his racecourse debut.
BOUCHARD 9-0 ~ Hinted as a horse with ability when running well in a couple of handicaps towards the back end of last years flat season. Made a moderate debut over timber but better for that experience he ran a much better race behind Altnadua at Punchestown. If he hadn't made a mess of the last he may have won and as an in-experienced horse he can be expected to improve on the bare form. He ran in the Grade 2 Winning Fair Juvenile Hurdle over course and distance but looked outclassed finishing a distant 4th. Still lightly race he is open to further improvement but the son of Kyllachy will have to.
CRY PRESTO 9-0 ~ Yet to finish in the frame in 8 starts over hurdles and is up against it today.
GLENSTAL ABBEY 9-0 ~ Unraced under rules but made one start on the flat for Ballydoyle in a Leopardstown maiden. That maiden has worked out so well it was probably not far off a listed event. It was an encouraging 5th behind Mores Wells and it makes him an interesting recruit to the jumping sphere. A costly 250,000 euros as a 1yo and things clearly haven’t gone to plan but making his debut for J P McManus he deserves particular attention in the market.
RIGHT OR WRONG 9-0 ~ Took 5 attempts in maiden company to get off the mark, beating Beau Michael. That rival has since gone on become a multiple graded winner but that rival has progressed no end and it's probably unwise to take that at face value. Beau Michael has since turned the tables in convincing fashion and Gay Sloane who was beaten 7 lengths into 5th was subsequently beaten 17 lengths by C'est Ca. Well beaten when the yard were in their well documented slump the 4yo bounced back at Navan to finish 2nd behind Old Si. An exposed performer he looks the stable second string on jockey bookings and the vast majority of the yards runners have been running very poorly in the last couple of weeks.
TWO TIMER 9-0 ~ Still a maiden on the flat the Michael O'Brien trained gelding made an encouraging start under rules when finishing 6th of 30 in a Navan maiden. Should improve for the experience but will need to as the son of Selkirk is held by Posh Lady and Miss Fancy Pants.
MISS FANCY PANTS 10-9 ~ The Noel Meade filly made her debut at the beginning of the season and finished 2nd in an average novice hurdle. The daughter of Act One wasn’t seen again till this month when she won despite her trainer believing she wasn’t fit enough. That was a weak race but she did it well enough and should be better for the outing. Unfortunately the yards runners are still a little hit and miss so she couldn’t be backed with any confidence.
POSH LADY 10-9 ~ Beaten more than 5 lengths by Miss Fancy Pants on her second start at Navan last time out. More needed judging by that effort and up against it.
SESANTA 10-9 ~ Took a couple of runs to take to hurdles but recorded a fine win at Thurles beating her 1/4 stable mate Dani California by 7 lengths. Followed that effort up with a fine 3rd in the Grade 3 Punchestown Juvenile Hurdle behind Beau Michael. Personal Column who only beat Sesanta by a head has since beaten Won In The Dark in a grade 2 and finished 7th in the Triumph hurdle. So it would have disappointment connections that she couldn’t repeat that performance when down the field in the Grade 2 Spring Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown. She didn’t look the same beast at Leopardstown but when trying to bounce back she unseated her rider 3 from home over course and distance.
CONLCUSION
The shortlist for the race includes C’Est Ca, Glenstal Abbey and Sesanta
Glenstal Abbey has yet to jump a hurdle in anger and although his flat profile is very interesting a watching brief this time may prove the right option. However if the son of Montjeu was to be heavily back it would be wise to take note. Stable mates C’Est Ca and Sesanta look to be the class acts in the field and there is no clear first string or second string as their jockeys simply ride the horse they have previously ridden. C’Est Ca although yet to run on ground this fast is unexposed and potentially could be a grade 1 winner. Sesanta though has questions to answer after two disappointing efforts but is more exposed than her stable mate and looks a decent horse just shy of top notch and she may have to play the bridesmaid to her stable mate

2.10 Pontefract - SPHERE
St Jean Cap Ferrat is sure to improve from two to three but, the winner aside, the form of his second in a Nottingham maiden towards the end of last season doesn't make good reading while red hot favourite Bouguerau does hold the best form, but the French Listedrace in which he was fourth was very weak outside of the first two who were far enough in front and next time was only third in a Goodwood maiden and he does have to prove himself on a slow surface. I am going to side with James Fanshawe's newcomer here who is related to smart stayers Craigsteel and Invermark and is related to debutant winners Anniversary and Pennygown. Newcomers do have a decent record in this race and the ground should be no problem as she is bred to get much further than today's trip of 10f and is the value selection against the front three in the market, as much as I would love Geoff Wragg's colt to prevail.
4.20 Pontefract - MULL OF DUBAI (NAP)
Again, Heaven Knows is going to be a hot favourite, but I am not at all convinced by him. This half brother to Notnowcato looked set for big things in a highly successful season at three, but can be classed as a little disappointing last season with an end of season success in a Newbury handicap his only victory and he is plenty short enough at 5/4. I am going to take him on with Tom Tate's new inmate who was highly progressive for Stan Moore last season, particularly in ground with give in it. Holds Eradicate on a run at York in August and also won a couple of handicaps at Warwick and Windsor over a similar trip in testing conditions. Does have a career high mark to contend with today, but seemed to be very much on an upward curve last season and final run can be put down to a long, arduous season and also the fast ground wouldn't have suited and he holds big claims today.
4.50 Pontefract - KHAZINA (NB)
She is a $160,000 yearling and comes from a decent US family and is trained by Clive Brittain who won this particular race back in 2005 with Improvise. Work at home has suggested she could be one of trainers nicer three-year-old fillies and she should go very close in a race where newcomers again have a decent record. Milton Of Campsie is sure to be popular given she holds multiple Group 1 entries and held a Listed entry at the weekend, but she is drawn poorly and nearly every horse owned by her owners are given lofty entries. _________________ Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

ASTRONOMIC (no odds found) (NAP)
He comes here seeking his first success since Decemeber 2004 when he won a Listed Hurdle at Haydock, he has since had thirteen outings without winning or even placing, the majority of those starts came in class one races, so he drops down to a class four race today in a field of which is probably the weakest he has been up against for some time, he also returns to a course from which he picked up one of his only two victorys, he switches back over fences today after going over hurdles of late and from his two previous starts over fences he pulled up on both runs, both his previous wins have come in fields of 6-11, its eight runners today so that looks ideal, he has the ability and this field is not that tough and i believe he can pick up the win here today for the Howard Johnson yard who won this race last year with Bestofthebrownies.

14.15 Fairyhouse - SESENTA @ 5/1 Coral
Willie Mullins has the top and bottom weights here in C'est Ca and SESENTA. The first mentioned won nicely lto over course and distance when beating Zephyr Lilly by an easy 10L on Heavy ground, i feel the ground will be slightly quicker this afternoon and having to concede so much weight to the second string could be to much. The selection was last seen in a similar event just over a month ago when unseating her jockey when traveling the best in the race which was won eventually by Beau Micheal.Has finished third in a Grade 3 event at Punchestown over todays 16f trip on heavy ground, but i feel the ground will be more suitable and should give ex flat jockey D Condon a smooth ride to success. _________________ Colin Dune |

3 quick fancies as my net is playing up -
3:55 Fontwell
Sir Bathwick @ 3/1 Shame he couldn't land the treble for me but he was probably unsuited by the 3 runner affair after the defections and went wrong anyhow after going pretty well in the main.
Robin De Sherwood is the favourite here for Paul Nicholls but neither Ruby Walsh or Sam Thomas are booked for the ride which is picked up by Mick Fitzgerald. That doesn't inspire with confidence and neither does the form of his recent win when he made hard work of beating the dodgepot Marcus. A more reliable proposition may be SIR BATHWICK who was a wide margin winner of a novice handicap at Newbury over this sort of trip and was undisgraced last time when trying to concede 6lbs to the useful Gold Medallist and Rustarix who were 1st and 2nd respectively. This ground and trip are ideal and he has shown significant improvement since tackling the larger obstacles. He is taken to continue his good form and get the better of the Nicholls horse and his other two rivals Burren Legend and Nation State who have both had their chances.
2:45 Fairyhouse
Schindler's Hunt @ 4/1 Very nice win and his jumping was superb, maybe he can fulfill his potential now! Punchestown beckons!!
Mansony marginally sets the standard here but his form has tailed off considerably this season and it may pay to side with SCHINDLER'S HUNT who is closely matched on their meeting at Leopardstown earlier in the season with a 4lbs pull for around 2 1/2 lengths. Has the blinkers on for the first time today which may help his jumping and he could repeat the form of his 4th in the Champion Chase it may just be good enough to suffice here. Gemini Lucy and Tidal Fury have too much to prove whilst Glenfinn Captain has been held off this sort of mark 3 times already this season. One Cool Cookie will simply find this too sharp as the majority of his form has been over 2m4f+. The interesting one is Blueberry Boy as he was a Graded performer last season before what has been almost a year off. He is in receipt of upwards of a stone from the principals and if straight enough could go well. He has gone well in the past when fresh but he will still need probably to find more to get the better of Schindler's Hunt.
3:10 Pontefract
Collateral Damage @ 8/1 Could go in again on that evidence as he was competitive off higher marks last season and has always been well thought of.
There should be a fierce pace on here with the likes of Denbera Dancer, Royal Dignatory and Nevada Desert all likely to contest the lead early on and that could play into the hands of COLLATERAL DAMAGE who should be fit from an unsuccessful hurdles campaign this winter. He has dropped to a winning mark for the first time since his last victory back in May 2006 and showed last season that he is capable at competing at this level and higher. The pace should help make this stiff mile a sufficient test and he goes well in soft so it could be a belated return to the winners enclosure for Tim Easterby's charge today.
Good Luck

Ponterfract 4:20 HEAVEN KNOWS NAP
Failed to make the cut for Saturdays Lincoln and that shows connections think he is a quality Horse. He is still relativley unexposed and does have improvement left in him, these conditions will suit him nicely and he should justify favortism. |

I realy fancy this one with T J O'brien as jockey only 8 runners and at 8/1 i would do a small EW. I wish i saw him this morning on OLBG If i was betting i would put a bet on at £2.50 EW |
