Went to Kempton a few years ago with a couple of friends when they ran a horse called Borzoi Maestro at Kempton and Lisa Jones was on board and I was standing in the section where the jocks weigh in. I think she is about 7st and a bit at the best of times and the amount of lead weights she had to put in her saddle was incredible. She must have been on and off those scales about five times as the stewards had to keep checking her weight. He finished third so it was worth it in the end! _________________ Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

| I agree with Jamie 100%...trainer form is 50 times more important than jockey form...most jockeys can win on good horses given the chance..i.e. when Sam Thomas substituted for Ruby walsh ( injured) on Denman and Kauto Star.... only jockey I have seen win on " bad" horses is AP McCoy when riding in sellers for Martin Pipe ( but remember those " bad" horses were super fit!..Good Luck |

Just following up on a question that kilkennycat asked!
When the lead weights under the saddle to make up for that extra weight, is this the same as a horse which has the full allowed weight or is the horse that has the weights on it at a big disadvanatge?
Also is there any differents in class A and Grade A etc.. are they just the same but have different names?
Thanks lads |

What happens to bets placed on horses 30-60 mins before the off which turn out to be non runners?
Do they take the back and Lay stakes? |

all those looking for systems/books about betting..nick mordin is your man..
doc i would say a horse with more lead weight than jockey weight is at a disadvantage as a weight does nothing but sit in the bags/slots under the saddle but a jockey can shift his weight around as in his center of gravity in relation to the horse's to help it not feel so weighed down...thats my thought anyway and hope it helps a bit.. _________________ "proper words in proper places, make the true defination of style" jonathan swift

I'd love to know peoples thoughts on Great Leighs after a few races, obviously early days, but be nice to know what people think in regards and comparison to other tracks. I think it has had a good start, attracted trainers and good horses, lovely track with sweeping bends, and if able to build on these early days, with sponsorship from the Canadian's and the potential to hold a Breeders Cup Trial meet, the future looks bright.
Kind Regards

| HRE.. From what ive seen for a track that has only opened recently its attracting the top trainers already win or lose giving great reports.. I find it very similar to Wolverhamton though with the swinging bend from the 4 too 3 furlong pole and a 2 furlong run in with a fair corner to take beforehand.. Im sure the race times will prove me wrong though.. |

| Hi HolyRomanEmpire, your peice on Great Leighs its an interesting point, i will be visiting the New Course this summer on a few occassions and will give you some feed back but i have heard a lot to reccomend the racing surface from all quarters that also goes for the track configaration to, as for all the facilities that have yet to be finished the feed back on that is that it will more than cater for the racegoer, its been built with the twentyfirst century in mind. |
