Detailed trainer stats. (Which ones?)

Further to the figures i did for \david Pipe in another thread, i will poll which flat trainers you would likeme to run through for somefigures from the last 12 months (if there are some really strong trends i will extend the research back further)

I will run the poll until Next friday night Midnight. The top three in the poll, i will produce some figures for.

I'll include some obvious ones and some others too as we can find some strong trends from the smaller yards.

If you would like any unamed added please post up who and some good reasoning why you think they should be considered.

I have started with a varied selection of 12

man o...can i be cheeky and ask for you to run something for me...usa bred horses on the all weather first 3 starts between 5 and 7f 2 or 3 years olds...apparently its profitable but would prefer to see some figures rather than take someone's word for it...also some great work by yourself at the moment..

i know Milton Bradley and Dandy Nicholls are deemed to be sprint kings, but I have a feeling they have a better strike rate over 7f or a mile.

I do follow John Gosden (really, really hope he can do the classic grand slam...however unlikely that will be and despite my bet on Jupiter Pluvius!!), and have selected him in the poll!!

Actually i just noticed i've made a bit of a boo boo. I actually have done channon already as i did him looking for his strike rates with bigger prices ready for this season, so i can put those up anyway, so stop voting for him

I don't wish to sway people's judgement in polls here, but some of the trainers mentioned above seem to have quite bad SR and LSP profit over the past few years. From what I can see, and sorting out trainers by SR, these are the top 10 (again, over the past few years).

Hi Pricecap,

thanx for your contribution, but you may have missed the point of what i am trying to do. Even though some trainers do have low SR and LSP, they do have winners. In fact some of the smaller, perceptionally less succesful trainers have better strike rates under certain confidtions and this is what we are trying to highlight.

the top 10 trainers, whether your looking at SR, LSP, or even Prizemoney, is very much like looking at an iceberg. Tou are only seeing a very small portion of the whole story. There is so much more to discover if you look deeper into the stats. I think i tried to explain this in the opening post.

The big yards are investigated thoroughly all the time. Some of the stats that we found on the daviud pipe thread may have surprised some. And it would nice to investigate some of the smaller yard,

For instance would you follow blindly, little known trainer Tom dascombe with his two year olds.

Well i can tell you if you had done so over the last 12 months you would be a handy £227.50 in profit to £10 level stakes. Or for his runner reappearing on the race track within 10 days of their last run would improve those figures to £388.10. Whilst if you followed michael stoutes or Peter chappel-Hyams favourites over the last 12 months you would have roughly broken even with the latter whilst making a loss with Michael Stoute. Tom Dascombe is 12 points to the good with his favs.

There is so much more to discover than the stats of the most popular yards. this is why i have mixed then up in the poll, so that we can possibly get a nice mix of big and small yards.

AH gotcha!

I was just trying to highlight some of the 'better' trainers. But your point is very valid, as even though on the surface, it might seem that their returns are bad, if we (or you in this case) try to dig deeper, consistent profits and SR's can be found.

Keep it up, I am sure it will yield some very interesting and potentially profitable results.

no problem man o...might just have to look at that raceform then...while i post this i was wondering if marco botti is on your list,a young trainer who has a real racing pedigree(if he was a horse he'd be one of the best bred in newmarket. )..maybe he's worth a look as if he is making profits now he will only improve over the next few seasons imo,once again man o brilliant work all over the forum at the moment...i tip my hat in your general direction.
