MAY RACING CHALLENGE RULES
What is it?
A friendly challenge based on sportslive's "trap challenge" but this one is for horse racing.
When is it on?
Whenever there is an evening meeting in the UK or Ireland - see scheduled challenges below.
Where do I enter?
Just reply to this thread with your selections for each race and you will be entered into one of the groups - see below for more details.
How do I enter?
You need to post your selections for each race of the meeting. You can only have 1 selection per race (and 1 reserve) and you have to make one of them your NAP - ie. best bet. The better your selections do then the more points you get.
How do I score points?
REGULAR POINTS
Horse finishes 1st in any race = 5pts
Horse finishes 2nd in any race = 3pts
Horse finishes 3rd in any race = 1pts
* NAP = you get double points for your NAP(best bet) so 10 points for the win, 6 points for 2nd and 2pts for 3rd.
BONUS FOR BIG PRICES -
Should you be one of the people who selects the biggest priced winner on the night t any one meeting then you will be awarded 5 BONUS POINTS. This only applies to the Group Stages.
* PLEASE POST A RESERVE SELECTION FOR EACH RACE
If you request that your non-runners go onto the fav then you will score no points for that race. Only if your selection and reserve selections are both non runners will your selection then go onto the SP favourite.
BONUS POINTS
If you are 1st in your group at the end of the night = +5pts to your total
If you are 2nd in your group at the end of the night = +3pts to your total
If you are 3rd in your group at the end of the night = +1pts to your total
* in the event of a tie for bonus points the person with the most 1st placed selections will be deemed the winner. If these are equal then it goes to the most 2nd places and then 3rd places. If all the above are equal then the points for the winning positions will be added together and then divided out equally.
GROUP STAGE
* when you first post your selections you will be randomly entered into one of four different groups.
* if there are any late entries - either after the first race or "extra" entries the following night - then they will be put into a random division aswell.
* Your total points at the end of each meeting will be recorded and added together. After the meeting at Wolverhampton on the 22nd of this month, the top two in each group will progress to a knock out stage.
KNOCKOUT STAGE
* if you finished in the top two in your group then you will go head-to-head with another challenger here.
* the challengers can PM me or with their selections so there is no copying and I will post them before the off of the first race.
The Quarter Final draw will be as follows:
Winner Group A vs Runner-up Group D
Winner Group B vs Runner-up Group C
Winner Group C vs Runner-up Group B
Winner Gruop D vs Runner-up Group A
CUP COMPETITION
* if you have the highest overall score from a single meeting next month you will get a place in the cup. If you end up in the top two of your group though you will only enter the main knockout contest.
* Once the final cup entrants are decided then they will all compete in a single group for one meeting. The top four in the group will then go through to the semi-final to play in a head-to-head format. PM GECKO6 with entries in the head to head stages.

Hi guys back again for the Racing Challenge and it looks like the focus has been switched to turf with only a handful of AW meetings scheduled for May.
Should be some good competitive cards on offer, good luck to everyone who takes part!
ALL ENTRIES WELCOME OLD OR NEW!!!
The fixtures above are provisional at this stage so don't be alarmed if I remove or add any to the list! |

The prize is a pint of Guiness bought by the beaten finalist.
You'll have to travel to Birmingham to receive yours though |

The prizes are meant to be £10 for the winner and £5 for the runner up in both comps.
I have no idea why they havn't been issued as I have been sending the recipients in every month.
I may sort something small out myself for the winners this month but in the meantime will enquire as to why the OLBG prizes havn't been issued.
It is a bit disappointing that is the case as this is arguably the most popular challenge on the site which has attracted quite a few new members, and is run non stop throughout the year!
Anyway on a brighter note, the fun begins on Thursday at Great Leighs. Don't forget to get your entries in, don't want to be throwing your chances away due to a sluggish start! |

Really enjoy it, and it only increases our horse skills

You can tell I'm new to racing
Thanks for telling me; is there much variance between AW and turf? |
