2.00 Newmarket (July) - CAPE VALE Lose

He is a brother to the yards top class sprinter Moss Vale and he too looked a colt with a future when making a winning start to his career in a Thirsk maiden and followed that up with a dour victory in a competitive Ayr nursery (in testing conditions). Has had absolutely no luck so far this season with regards to the draw and also luck in running as illustrated when drawn very poorly in handicaps at both Thirsk and Haydock and came home strongly both times, only to be denied, the second occasion especially close. Again had excuses last time at Haydock over 7f when not really getting into from a none too brilliant draw and now with everything looking in his favour, he should now be able to show his true colours and should go close at decent odds of around 14/1. Likely dangers include Kaldoun Kingdom, who will appreciate any rain and is better than his placing suggests last time, while Carleton should be suited by the track and has run with credit the last twice. (60 to follow horse)

3.45 Newmarket (July) - COMBAT ZONE (NAP) Lose

The Strutt & Parker maiden has long been an established starting point for many high class sorts such as Alhaarth, who beat Mark Of Esteem in the 1995 running, and has also been won by useful sorts such as Bahhare, Haami, Nimello, Dubai Destination and last season Rio De La Plata. It looks highly likely that this seasons renewal too looks decent and my selection is trained by Saeed Bin Suroor and is a 280,000euros yearling half brother to useful performers Mutawajjid and Zut Alors (a debut winner at two) and the yard are 2-3 in this race in recent years. He said to be putting in some highly encouraging work at home and holds top rank amongst the yards juveniles and the yards only two juvenile representatives thus far have shown themselves to be well forward, so anything other than a winning debut would be a disappointment. His opponents are sure to have been well touted somewhere and Swindler, who was due to contest the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot only to refuse to enter the stalls, would have to be considered his main danger from the Andrew Balding yard. Holyrood, a well bred colt from the Sir Michael Stoute yard, Cloudy Start from the Henry Cecil yard and Whispering Angel who is highly regarded by Brian Meehan, are all well liked, but are likely to come on for the run.

4.20 Newmarket (July)
- KING O'THE GYPSIES (NB) 3rd Lose

He is a brother to the talented, but ill-fated Gypsy King who made a highly encouraging debut when a staying on fourth to Pampas Cat in a traditionally useful 10f maiden on the Rowley mile course at the Craven meeting in April and the winner has held his form well since and others such as Daraahem, Checklow, Savarain and Seattle Storm have all won since. He is bred to improve with time and age and his trainer Roger Charlton's horses always seem to improve from their first run; also should there be any rain, it would only serve to help him and again, anything other than a win would be disappointing as it looks a very winnable race. Meydan City is always going to have his $11,700,000 price tag as a millstone for his reputation and he hardly looked returning much of his price tag when third in a moderate affair here last month and though only improve on that, place claims at most.

RED DUNE 1.30 Newmarket @ 2/1 1st

Micheal Jarvis has been in very good form this season and this Red Ransom filly could get punters off too a flying start in the first race off the afternoon at Newmarket.. Raced only once in her two year old days when NAPcompeting in a very hot Doncaster maiden and finished 4th with alot off subsequent winners in behind and in front.. She was impressive on her fist start this season as a three year old when only beaten a length by an impressive John Gosden filly illusion who has gone on and competed in competitive listed races since.. Improved from that second placing with a cozy win last time out over a well bred filly Lee Miller for Luca Cumani who went out after that run and scored a victory herself at Pontefract so the form is holding up.. Step back to 7 furlongs not necessarily guaranteed too bring about further improvement but she is the classiest filly in the field and making her handicap debut today she could prove too be well in at the weights..

NAP HEART SHAPED 2.35 Newmarket @ 5/2

Aidan O Brien and Johnny Murtagh have struck up a very successful partnership this term and the horses seem too be running particularly well so far.. This for me is one off the better 2 year old fillies in the yard and is entered in this weak looking renewal off the Cherry Hinton Stakes in which O Brien won last year with soinlovewithyou.. Beautifully bred daughter off Storm Cat, disappointed at Royal Ascot on her last start and no real excuses as it had the best off the draw and didnt appear too miss the kick .. From what i saw she was nursed home by Johnny Murtagh and possibly wasnt given the hardest ride so should be fully fit.. Her first two starts in Ireland was where she looked very impressive when third too Jim Bolgers top filly Chuis Ghaire who if people remember went on too land a big gamble at Royal Ascot when winning the Albany Stakes, she only finished 3 lengths behind so it reads well.. Heart Shaped went on too the Curragh for her next start and showed that she came on for her first run with a very eye catching run too reverse placing with the second in the previous race Silver Shoon from the Dermot Weld yard.. Her form in Ireland makes her one off the better 2 year old fillies and she should be followed today at Newmarket..

GREANNMHAR
6.00 Naas @ 8/1

Likely too be a decent price tonight after going off a well backed favorite on debut before disappointing and running so bad earning only an official rating off 22.. The positives too be taken from the results were that this well related 2 year old filly trained by Jim Bolger was backed heavily on debut too beat the subsequent O Brien horse Grand Ducal so there was confidence behind her and she was bumped and knocked about twice leaving the stalls and during the early part off the race which any one will tell you doesn't do any good especially for a young filly first time at the track.. The run was too bad too be true and im taking her too beat the O Brien newcomer tonight and come on for her debut run.. Jim Bolgers 2 year old fillys are all running well and this selection should go very close this evening..

Mumbleswerve 8.20 Kempton looks overpriced at 14/1 with the ' magic sign ' and can reward eway backers with a good run for their money - as low as 7/1 in places @10.15am.

Holyrood is worth a small interest at 9/1 in the 3.45 Newmarket - but only a minimal bet as the majority of the field are making their racecourse debut.

A nice 10/1 winner yesterday then next two runners not up to it, so will try again today.

1.30 Janina 12/1 - I'm taking on the short priced fav here with a nice e/w chance. It has been prominent in the market on its 3 races to date, 6th last time out in the Albany Stakes didnt disgrace this horse. I think that bit more give in the ground today will work in its favour and i am happy with what i percieve as a value bet. Lose 9th

2.00 Cape Vale / Dohasa Win 4th - On the second race i am going to dutch both these selections e/w. Cape Vale looks to be in with a great chance re handicap and Nicholls will have this horse ready and fit. My 2nd horse for the race is Dohasa and this is just as much due to Murtagh riding as well as horse itself. Murtagh will have a winner today in my opinion and this could be the one at a big price, although is a nice e/w chance at 25/1

2.30 Lucky Leigh - Looks the obvious one to me when reading the form. Early money appears to be for the o'brien filly Heart Shaped, so the selection has drifted a bit, although this does not put me off at all, just makes the bet more value. Channon 2yolds have been on fire this season and the selections 4th place just behind Langs Lash in the Queen Mary Stakes sets the standard and i cant see past this horse at 11/4 Lose

3.10 Finsceal Beo - Bolger has had a good season to date and i think if you excuse its last race as a one off then the selection can get infront of the fav Darjina here. I dont think the prices represent the true difference between the two horses as i see it a lot closer. 2 races at Newmarket to date and 2 wins, so heres for the hat trick. 7/1 a great price imo. Lose

3.45 Soul City - Early money for this coulod be significant and with a run under its belt i am swayed towards the Hannon horse although will be playing small and watching with interest. 1st

4.20 Meydan City - I think this will be Godolphin's first winner of the day. a $11.7 million purchase and money talks on most occasions. was in need of run lto and i expect a lot more today. 5/1 represents a fair price here and although it will need to improve i think this horse has plenty of potential to do it. 1st 7/1

4.55 Officer - Dissapointed first time out for its new trainer, the moore's team up again and i think Officer can run a good race here. The money always seems to be down for this horse which imo shows people think highly of it. It has gone on to dissapoint a few times but it wouldnt suprise me today if it gets it nose in front at a big price (to annoy the fav backers who missed out on it last few times). 14/1 represents a nice e/w bet to finish for me.

Good Luck Fingers Crossed

MISSILE DODGER (no odds found) i reckon should be around 2/1 so 5/2 looks value. This horse has run well all three starts including in the Windsor Castle at Ascot. He is carrying top weight and is giving lumps away to his rivals but Jamie Moriarty takes off 3 lbs and the opposition dosent look up to that much.

My Lay of the day is Worcester 9.10 Perfectus.
I think the 2nd and 3rd favourites will take this one on tonight, even with Mccoy on board.
Enchanted Approach won over c&d already and will not mind the softer ground tonight.
Lancer Scott ran well at Exter last time out and will also appreciate the softer ground.

CATTERICK 4.40... TURN ME ON @ 8/1

Turn Me On was my NAP last week and again gets the NAP vote even though he hasn't fared so well on the draw again. Duran Fentiman gets the leg up today in an attempt to get a better showing than when not getting a clear run from a poor draw last visit here when finishing within 2 &1/2 lengths of the winner.
He takes a drop in grade here and with more luck in running can get back in the winners enclosure.
His stablemate Micky Mac will no doubt be popular from a better draw, but is yet to win on turf.
March Mate is beginning to get as many seconds as a serial Bridesmaid, and has been raised 8lb for finishing in that position his last 3.
Baltimore Jack (too big @ 20/1) is another who drops in grade here, and has dropped 11.lb for his last 3 defeats to 17.lb below his best winning mark but has yet to trouble the judge at this distance. He has 1st time blinkers today and if they have the desired effect he is dangerously well handicapped!
Myriola ( @ 50/1 ) is another overpriced, and at the right end of the weights if this first try at this trip brings about improvement!

Micky Mac 1st
Turn me On 2nd

Baltimore Jack Correction 4th

3:10 - Newmarket - Heaven Sent
Darjina is now a non runner so this should be between Heaven Sent, Infallible and Lady Gloria with my vote going to Stoutes Heaven Sent. She has been very consistant and these conditions wont be a problem.Yards in form and of course R Moores on board so cant be ignored. She wont have to improve too much on what she has shown so far.Lady Gloria will like these conditions and is a good EW chance but will have to improve quite a lot more than the selection to win this.In fallible has shown some very good form so far and will like these conditions but Heaven Sent is the winner for me.
Danger:Lady Gloria

5.05 Lingfield

Deposer

Deposer is taken to score here based on its debut credentials. The clear second at furlong over 5f suggested this one had the stamina for 6 furlongs. This sort of trip is ideal and the draw favours Deposer. Everything is all set in place for Deposer and Deposer looks set to score in the last at Lingfield.

5.15 Catterick

Woody Waller

This is basically Woody Waller against Marie Louise in the market, and I am siding with Woody Waller. Judging by the performance at Hamilton, this is the type of race to bring the best out of Woody Waller.

This course and trip should suit well enough for Catterick, it is not most perfect, but not far off ideal. Woody Waller need a further trip which is exactly what the horse is getting in this race. Improvement is expected over this longer course.

Marie Louise will be the danger here. Henry Cecil always has to be respected in this race, and he sends out Marie Louise. However, I do not believe this one will relish the longer trip and this is a trip more suited to Woody Waller.

6:20 - Kempton - Wikaala NAP
This looks a very good bet tonight and i make it my NAP of the day.Only had 3 starts so far but has improved on each one.He was a good 3rd on his 2nd outing on the AW here when 2 3/4 legnths behind Navajo Joe.He won well lto on turf when beating Filigree Lace by 1/2 legnth.Looks interesting on his handicap debut tonight and with longer trip he should be capable of following up his Beverley win.Yards in form and P Dobbs takes the ride.
Danger:Sign Of The Cross (3rd Encores)

No write ups for these at the moment but Mujood, Changing Lanes and Ellerslie Tom all look decent bets tonight. Will try and put some writing with them later if i get time.
