2.20 Kempton - WEATHERSTAFF (NB)
He is a very well bred colt who cost $150,000 as a yearling and comes from a successful family which the late Robert Sangster built up over the years and is related to the likes of top class duo Durtal and Gildoran. He was well fancied to make a winning debut in a small field maiden over 6f at Ayr back in July and duly obliged, scoring by a neck from the useful Fitz Flyer with the green Jobe back in third and he has since boosted the form with a win. The time was decent and when a Mark Johnston debutante wins, they are usually pretty smart and this colt looks sure to improve for his first run and with his pedigree suggesting he should be suited by this surface and from a good draw, he should go well. Elnawin has impressed the last twice including last time when winning the re-routed valuable £300,000 DBS St Leger Yearling Stakes, but, he was in the right place that day and where you were drawn determined the outcome in affect and though he is sure to go close, may be worth taking on.
2.50 Kempton - MOURILYAN (NAP)
Galactic Star and Many Volumes are sure to be popular for the Stoute and Cecil yards, but I will take a chance on Gary Moore's new inmate who has joined from the Herman Brown yard following a brief spell in Dubai when trained by John Oxx, and his ultimate aim this season is the Melbourne Cup. He won a couple of valuable 10f handicaps at Nad Al Sheba earlier in the year, still looking green, but displaying a fine turn of foot to win on both occasions and that followed a promising first season in Ireland when he was a winner twice. Only just failed on his first attempt in Group 3 company when unable to overhaul Gower Song in the Dubai City of Gold Stakes and was given slightly too much to do, but it was still a solid effort. Made no impact in either the Dubai Sheema Classic or in the International Cup at Kranji back in May, but they were both Group 1's and he now takes a step back in grade which will suit. His sire, Desert Prince, has plenty of decent AW horses and with the potential he showed in Dubai and also his potent turn of foot, he looks sure to give a good account of himself here and has shown he can go well fresh in the past. Blue Monday, now back with Roger Charlton following a year long spell in Australia, is not to be underestimated as he was a very useful performer at this level back in 2007 and ran encouragingly on his reappearance last month when runner up in a Conditions event at Newmarket (July) and gets the trip well and rates as the main danger to the selection.
4.00 Kempton - ASHRAM
John Hills is having a very tough year and appears to have a modest bunch in, particularly in his juvenile squad, but, this colt looks to be the exception. He obviously had been showing up well at home prior to his debut in a 7f maiden at Newmarket (July) last month as he already held a Group 1 entry and had been well backed in the morning and he didn't disappoint his backers. He was very green throughout and was well in arrears after missing the kick but, coming down to the two furlong marker, he started to make rapid headway and despite still running green and carrying his head high, came through with a strong run to take it up in the closing stages to score by 1½ lengths. What the form was worth is hard to know with the favourite not running up to his best, but there is no doubting the colt's potential and he obviously has a turn of foot; pedigree suggests the surface should be fine (half brother to the smart and progressive Blackat Blackitten who acted well round here) and he can give his trainer a much needed boost. Standpoint looks interesting on paper from the Sir Michael Stoute yard and he is by Oasis Dream out of a useful mare who was an impressive debut winner over 7f at two; yards youngsters have invariably needed the run though this term and this colt holds no notable entries. _________________ Nothing ventured, nothing gained. |

2.50 KEMPTON MANY VOLUMES NB
Not very often i disagree with aidan but i think many volumes is a progressing horse and will take some beating here today. It should have no problems with his step up in trip. His last two outings was impressive with beating bushman at sandown by 3 lengths and last time out beating Gravitas by 2 1/2 lengths.
3.25 KEMP PREMIO LOCO NAP
CD winner a raised 7lbs for it should still not be enough to see of his rivals today. It is a lightly raced horse and still has room for improvement.
Good luck all on this awful day of racing.

Afternoon Fellas..
2.20 Kempton - Weatherstaff
I Know for a fact they rate this up at Middleham!, Was not fit at all on debut!. Looked as tho it could come on for the run many many times over!. Very Tough field today. But this is highly reguarded by the Johnston Stable!
Edited.. Just hearing that Weatherstaff has missed a few pieces of work Start of the week!. May need the run today! ..
4.30 Kempton - Ethaara
This is quite simply the best handicapped Horse in the Yard!
They are very much expecting this to win today and go onto much much better things!. Simple as! . |

Fancy this to go well today stepped up in trip and with the course riding fast should have a good chance if there is a decent pace on. _________________ The sour taste of Loss makes the taste of Success even Sweeter.......

9.20 Wolverhampton
CANDELA BAY (NAP)
The Haggas yard won this race back in 2000 with Hand Chime and then won it again last year with Giant Stalom and they are the only two favourites to win this race in the past nine runnings, im taking his Candela Bay to win this race for the Haggas yard to make it three wins. She will be making her AW debut after her first five career starts have all come on the turf from which she has picked up two wins with both wins coming on firm ground, this will also be her first time out running more than 6f but i have the belief that she is capable of winning over this trip, both her wins have come in this class and value race and although she goes off joint top weight i still believe she is capable of winning off this mark of 75. She has only had five starts to date and she has shown signs that she still needs to learn, her last outing saw her go off to keen and hopefully she will remain calm in the stalls and come out well and sit just off the pace and launch an attack late on because she has a good kick and she has shown in previous races that this trip could suit her. The main dangers for me are Montiboli who is frustating and places more than wins and also Vigano who has course experience but i believe Candela Bay can win this.
Good Luck Guys |
