2.20 Folkestone
GOOGOOBARBAJAGAL
Having only his second run in this race here at Folkestone today. I was annoyed last week, when I was unable due to time, to get on Lethal Glaze which was another notebook runner from the same race as his debut at Salisbury. Of course he duely won his race last week, and with the winner and runner up also scoring from that debut run at Salisbury, the form of the race is looking particularly solid. _________________ NEW! 3.20 Folkestone
VANADIUM
CRATAEGUS
VANADIUM ran above his mark last time despite pulling too hard and with George Baker on board looks to have an excellent chance if putting best foot forwards. His form does have a slightly uneven look to it but often strung 2 good runs together in the past. CRATAEGUS looked a winner in waiting last time and as he has shown his form on heavy ground, looks worth a small bet to progress here.
4.20 Folkestone
EQUULEUS PICTOR
Looks to still have something in hand of the handicapper and likes give in the ground. Probably fair to say that if he is still in the same form as his last run then he ought to be up to winning this. IRISH PEARL looks a live danger and THE JOBBER looks third best.
4.40 Bath
DIGITAL
There does not look to be a lot of obvious pace which may be a worry but this grand old campaigner may appreciate the return to 6f and he looks handicapped to go well. All ground comes alike to him and may be a touch of value.
5.20 Folkestone
BAYLINI
My faith in this one on turf may well turn out to be mis-placed but she is still very well handicapped and this ground might just suit. Her two best turf runs came on softish ground and if she can run even a stone below her AW best that would probably suffice. Plenty of 3-y-o opponents and HIGGY'S BOY makes some appeal. However, he does seem to have a touch of the slows and this track may not play to his strengths. _________________ It's the hardest way to make an easy living............ |

2.50 Folkestone - BAGBER (NB)
He is the first foal of lightly raced mare who won at two and this colt should be following suit after a couple of encouraging efforts this season for Harry Dunlop. He was 100/1 for his debut in a hotly contested Newbury maiden and ran above market expectations when staying on well into fourth behind Whispering Angel and looked as though he would improve for the experience. Slightly disappointing last time, considering the promise shown on debut, when returning back to the Berkshire venue when fifth to Midnight Cruiser and also found trouble in running inside the final furlong. Through a form line with the winner that day, he doesn't have a lot to find with Mishrif and gives the impression he will stay further than this 7f, so testing conditions should help him and looks good value. Mishrif showed promise on his debut last month when fifth behind Wingwalker in a newcomers event at Newmarket (July), but his trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam has been enduring a terrible time of it since June and none of his horses can be backed with any kind of confidence (2-46 with his juveniles this season). Captain Ellis, on pedigree, is not sure to be suited by conditions and tackles this trip for the first time.
3.50 Folkestone - SIGN OF APPROVAL (NAP)
I wouldn't be surprised to see this unraced colt go off favourite here as he is very highly regarded by connections, as his Group entries intimate. He is out of a mare who has produced winners at a of a variety of distances, but most importantly has produced two debutante winners in the shape of In Uniform (5f) and Scarlet Ribbons (6f) and this colt should add to the tally. He is trained by Karl Burke who can always ready a newcomer to score at the first time of asking and apparently has always thought a lot of this colt and if he is to fulfil his trainers ambitions, must make a winning start here and should do. Imperial Guest is starting to look a little exposed now and usually comes for these races to pick up a win, but that task being made harder with penalties and they look likely to weigh him down on this occasion and though the selection is giving away experience, this colt is giving him 15lbs. _________________ Nothing ventured, nothing gained. |

Not many betting races with form depth today.
SENESCHAL 16S SPORTING ODDS
This was behind both crataegus whos 9/2 and vanaduim whos 4/1 fav last time out.
However a quick scan of that race shows that the first 5 home were drawn 4,3,9,8,2 and horses drawn high had no chance that day.
Vanaduim was drawn 2 crataegus drawn 3 and seneschal drawn 14.
Senechal was beaten 7l and 9l but paid the penalty for being on wrong side its also 9lbs better of with crataegus and 5lbs with vanaduim (excluding claim)
Its also interesting a proper jock is back on S Drowne who won on him time before.
Long shot . |

2.10 Bath YANZA
A good run lastime out and this horse should be good enough today to go one better. In form jocky booking is a positive as well.
2.20 Folk BRAZILIAN ART evs and 2.50 Folk Mishrif 2-1
A P Chapple-Hyam double today Both had good runs and have been doing some good work at home.
2.40 Bath RIVER CAPTAIN 2-1
A cosy winner last time and a step up in trip to suit as well can only mean the winners enclosure again for the captain.
3.20 Folk PALAIS POLAIRE E/W about 11s
Just had some news on this horse and they are expecting a good run.
Good luck all

4.20 Folkstone - Irish Pearl
A horse that should be turning over this field easily and represents value at 6-1
4.40 Bath - Don Pele NAP
Another horse who is on a nice mark and if he can find his feet again this should be a win for Ron Harris whose got his horses coming into form.
4.50 Folkstone - Mistress Eva U/P
The step up in trip here could see Mistress Eva getting off the mark and Jim on board is a blessing in disguise
5.20 Folkstone - Mr Hitchens NB
Very well treated off 82 and with Brian in good form we could well see the hattrick landed this afternoon.

4.40 Bath, Harrisons Flyer @ 18/1 (1Pt E/W)
Has had a few runs without managing to win this term. The bits in his favour are: 33% Win & Place Strike Rate at Bath, 33% Win & Place Strike Rate on Soft Ground, 40% Win & Place Strike Rate in Class 5 races. His form figures for 5f, Soft Ground Races reads: 355200611.
4.20 Folk, Cape Royal @ 20/1 (1Pt E/W)
J M Bradley has a 10% strike rate at the course (8/81) with a very healthy profit of +83.50 over the past 5 seasons. Cape Royal has a 24% Win & Place Strike rate at 5f. He is proven on soft Ground, and on Heavy ground at 5f he has won once from three races. Interestingly in when running in September, he has a 45% Win & Place Strike Rate. |

I'd agree with ChimmiChanga's selection for the 16:50...
MISTRESS EVA (no odds found)
If you look back around 12 months, she ran very well to take a race on similar ground over 7f (6f today). Recent form is not that great, but drop in trip should suit her better. |

FOLKESTONE 3.20 ... PRAGMATIST NAP @ 8/1
Decent stike rate on soft going and being only 4lb higher than last win still looks fairly treated.
Crataegus and Hits Only Cash look to be the ones who will also handle the going should the selection fail to deliver!

Tarvini (4:55) Galway * The three others at the head of the market - Love To Dance, Matters At Hand and Anfield Road - are all pretty much exposed and this pick of the John Oxx quartet here could be good enough to get his head in front. He ran well when 4th on his debut and is open to plenty of improvement here. He is the choice Mick Kinane and if the first time blinkers do the trick then he should be good enough to win this - nice price now aswell. NAP _________________ 35 TO FOLLOW
