The following competition is simple. There will be one race picked at random each day and you have to try find the winner. Although with this comp rather than just typing the name of the horse you think will win you have to write up why you think they will win aswell. Anyone who doesn't put in the effort and writes something like "I fancy X to win because he is white and they are faster", "I like his name", "my friend told me so" etc. etc. won't be considered nor will any copy + pasting from other sites.
So what we're looking for here is for you to look at the race and come up with a selection. Then post the name of the horse and write a few lines which must include at least 4 seperate points on why you fancy it and that's it.
SCORING SYSTEM
1st = 20pts + 3x SP
2nd = 12pts + 2x SP
3rd = 6pts + 1x SP
4th = 4pts
5th = 2pts
To encourage people to look away from favourites aswell there will be bonus points for the price of the horse as shown above. This means that if someone picks a 2/1 horse that wins they will get 26pts (20 for winning and then 3 times 2/1 is 6 -> 20+6=26) while if someone picks a 10/1 shot that comes second they will get 32pts (12+20=32).

We'll kick things off with a relatively easy race in terms of number and go with the 2:50 @ Nottingham for the first race of the month. _________________ 35 TO FOLLOW

Upstairs on my bed looking at all the form for tomorrow and watching Gillette Soccer Special on Sky while my wife is downstairs watching the Soaps. Heaven!
Nottingham 2.40
Kiribati King: Likely favourite but I dont think he'll add to his Hat-Trick.
His four wins have all been on soft going and class 5 races and strangely enough has never run over 16 furlongs. Likely to stay but a big question mark.
Hendersyde: Another contender. Has never gone further than 14 furlongs and he won that but on good/soft going.
Okafranca: Was staying on well when he won at Chester over 2 miles but has only won with give in the ground and now up to a rating of 72.
Neve Lieve: His two wins were only over 11 furlongs. LTO he was found wanting after 11 furlongs in a 14 furlong race albeit a class 2 race. Two miles is a way too far.
Opera de Luna:
Purely by Chance:
I think these two are a bit out of their depth.
Broken Moon: I don't know what to say about this grey filly. Has won on good to soft only 14 furlongs and a class 5 race. Will not figure.
Keenes Day My Choice.
Has only ran twice this year, his first, at Ripon should be forgotten. Beaten into last place by over 13 lengths in a 1.5 mile race. LTO ran very well over 2 miles. Beaten into third place under 2 lengths and was staying on at the line. I think he'll be there or thereabout at the finish. A Johnston/Fanning combination.
Best of luck to everyone! |

NOTTINGHAM 2.50
OKAFRANCA
Won at Chester last time out a front runner who can get a few of these struggling as he will definately stay this marathon trip. He is up 7lb for his victory at Chester which the way he won is not unreasonable and i expect him to at least place in todays race. |

| HENDERSYDE for me. Walter Swinburn is hitting some really good form and this horse has a great record, upped from its last win but still at a very winnable mark. ted durcan takes the ride and guarenteed the best run it can with him |

Kiribati King
Has been running a beaut recently, and some 1st's notched up in September. Even though there are some good horses in this race, I believe this should do well tomorrow. |

Is this open to anyone, or just the racing section regulars? I stopped betting on racing, but this is the kind of thing that could help me be more selective.... _________________ The only dedicated snooker betting blog on OLBG! -> Click here

KIRIBATI KING
He is coming off the back of a run at Pontefract which saw him complete his hatrick and previously being successful at Haydock and then Warwick, he is only off a 3lb higher mark for this race but he is up 9lb since winning the first race on the way to his hatrick, i still believe that over this trip he is more than capable of completing the four timer off this mark. Ground could be better but still ok for him and if the rain comes then the more the better. Channon's 3yo runners on the turf last month were fairly productive with a 25% strike rate and LSP of +18.25 thanks to six winners from twenty-four and Tony Culhane has a 20% strike rate this season when in the saddle of a Channon 3yo runner on the turf, i can see Channon's yard bringing there 3yo form over from last month and getting an early winner here with Kiribati King completing the four-timer.
Good Luck Guys  |
