Aidan, my old mucker excellent write ups as always.. On my list of horses to follow i wrote down 'Piquante' around a month ago.. I heard some really good reports about her, cant remember where though.. I was in such a rush to find a pen and write the name down before i forgot it everything else went out the window.. But the news must have been pretty good to get me sprinting for a pen
Being US bred though, not likely that she will be suited by the ground.. In the same race Godolphin have a quite highly touted filly too.. For me that is a Lay all day horse. Godolphin hopelessly out of form (all year) record with debutants is beyond shocking and a storm cat filly winning first time out on the mud? If this one wins i think ill permanently delete 'racingpost.com' from my list of favourites (then eat my hat) . |

Piquante may be US bred, but its all British blood and Selkirk a tremendous influence for the soft ground too. Also, the fact Bell pulled her at Haydock because of quicker conditions than originally forecast suggests she needs to get her toe in. I get update weekly on how the Newmarket juveniles are going and her name is a regular feature, but obviously being a HTR horse, word gets out quick for ATR and the RP to know means a lot of armchair/bookies punters will just lump on.
She is, and probably will be, cracking value as Stoute's will be red hot favourite and far too short. Yes, she ran in a higher grade race against previous winners, but their winning form was very poor and the race was won by a newcomer, so she is likely to be very false odds tomorrow.
Godolphin's filly is well bred, but is also US bred and does have US blood through and through and allied to that the fact Godolphin have only sent a couple of debutante winners out from a load of juveniles suggests she is a Lay. _________________ Nothing ventured, nothing gained. |

Gents
interesting words for Piquante, however I think its s race Id stay well clear of! I do for some reaon have a wee fancy for Alicante in the 15:50. Just think itl love the ground and we might not have seen the best of him yet, although if it was over an extra furlong or two id be even more interested. It does look a shocking race however and he may still prove good enough for a place at least.
Any thoughts? |

3:10 Leicester Lay Alcalde @ 1.7
Seriously any one of these 4 horses could win the race and can't see why Alcalde is such a hot favourite. Lay looks good for me |
