2.00 Uttoxeter - JUST ROB (NB)

Was highly progressive on the flat for Reg Hollinshead and was last seen recording his first success when just seeing of Eton Fable by the narrowest of margins in a 10f maiden at Chester. However, he had been consistent without quite being good enough before that and was placed on all but one of his previous seven starts. Has since been brought for 49,000gns and is now trained by Ian Williams; yards jumpers have been going well and this gelding has looked the sort who will get this 2m trip by staying on well over 10f and if his jumping is adequate enough should score. Fellow jumps debutante Jeffison showed decent enough form in France; he is now trained by Robert/Sally Alner and is another who looks as though this trip should be within his compass and should go well too for a yard who know what's what. Akarshan couldn't have been more impressive on his hurdles debut when putting his rivals to the sword by 17 lengths at Market Rasen, but couldn't follow up under a penalty in what was a stronger race and should find this race a bit easier.

3.05 Uttoxeter - DIAMOND HARRY (NAP)

Has looked a very smart prospect in a couple of DBS Spring Sale Bumper events at Newbury, winning on both occassions. The first success came back in March 2007 when rallying gamely to deny the useful Procas De Thaix to score by a half a length. Shook off a near 400 day absence to follow up back at the scene of his debut success in a similar sort of event when once again showing battling qualities as well as signs of inexperience and had to pull out all the stops to see off the potentially smart Shalone by a short head (giving him weight). Has always been held in some regard by his trainer Nick Williams who has always viewed him as a long term prospect for obstacles and given his progressive profile, the fact he goes well fresh and is out of a useful hurdle winner suggests this race is there for the taking. Keki Beku from the Philip Hobbs yard appears to be the main danger and is very highly rated by connections, but was slightly disappointing at the festival and even more so when well adrift at Worcester. It could be argued he was hampered just when the race was starting to take shape, but was hardly travelling well and could just find the selection too good on this occasion. Awesome George has contested some useful bumper events and finished fifth in a Listed contest at Cheltenham, but some of his form doesn't look up to much and he may have to settle for minor honours. Two to keep an eye on for the future are Finney, a winner last time out for Oliver Sherwood following a couple of promising efforts in bumpers, and Tom Knows, a twice raced maiden trained by David Pipe who stayed on late behind Zebra Crossing at Kempton 11 months ago, but both look as though a thorough test of stamina will see them in a better light.

7.20 Kempton - LADY DRAC

Fact she started life in a Conditions Stakes suggests Barry Hills holds this daughter of Hawk Wing in high regard, but she couldn't go the pace early on to eventually finish ninth behind winning stablemate Lassarina at Newbury late last month over 7f. However, she showed up well for a long way and was only left behind when the pace increased and could only make steady progress, so this extra furlong is likely to suit and is now dropped in grade so it would be disappointing if she couldn't go close in what looks a modest affair. History Lesson is the obvious danger and after running well enough in a 6f maiden at Newbury (race worked out well), followed it up with another promising effort over a furlong further back at the Berkshire venue and found only the useful Control Zone too good. However, he tended to hang left under pressure that day and didn't find a great deal once full pressure was applied and isn't one to be taking short prices about. Markyg finished third in the Listed Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, but the form hasn't worked out and he disappointed last time, albeit at a higher level. Augusta Gold from the Brian Meehan yard showed enough in novice company on his debut behind Wingwalker and Rileyskeepingfaith at Sandown last month to suggest he could play a prominent role at this level and this mile trip should be to his liking too.

Lay this horse

Uttoxeter 4.10 Tagula Blue

A smart novice 2 years ago he has performed poorly over jumps since coming sixth in the Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

The suspicion is, he has incurred an injury which has forced connections to enter him in this lowly selling hurdle.

Nayodabayo is the one most likely to take advantage

3.15 Wetherby: TRANOS (NAP)
Well i finally opened my account yesterday with Scots Dragon after going 0-12 this month so hopefully that has kicked started my month and it can continue today. This is a tough but exciting little race and the one im going to go with is TRANOS from the Micky Hammond yard, he did not have the best of starts to his career after going 0-11 on the flat and then 0-8 over hurdles but seemed to click three starts ago at Perth, Graham Lee has been in the saddle once before that run when he finished third at Newcastle but this time he picked up his first win of his career under the guidence of Lee at Perth over this trip when beating Eumene by one and half lengths, he then returned to Perth again with Lee in the saddle and off a 6lb higher mark to notch up another victory in a class three race by beaten Front Rank easily by eleven lengths. His last outing saw him go to Market Rasen to run in a Listed race but got hammered by the handicapper and went off a 20lb higher mark than his previous outing and he finished well off the winner under the guidence of Wilson Renwick. Today see's Graham Lee return to the saddle, he is 2-3 on his runner and he is also off a 5lb lower mark for this run, trip is ideal for him seeing as his only two wins to date have come over this trip and ground should not be a problem, he is also dropping down in class after his Listed race and goes in a class three here in which he has won in the past. The main danger has to be Pepporoni Pete who loves this trip but i feel that Tranos could have the upper hand here today.

James Pollard 5.00 Lingfield

Not sure if this got put on the alerts or not, but I was toally Mad with its run LTO. Horses were off the bridle with 2 furlongs to go and old James Pollard was having a nice relaxed jog in behind - so much so that he managed to veer to the inside and end up stuck behind a pushed along horse. The jocky did an awful job of trying to look like he was riding it out! Anyway, as I suspected it's being nailed this morning, was 4.2 and now only 2.96 and I didnt get on Mad . Anyway, I may have a bet still on this, although with Mr Spencer up it may put some people off Smile .

Yes Sir 3.50 Wetherby

Back down to a mark of 129, Yes Sir is thrown in on his best form. He showed signs of a return to form last time out at Market Rasen and should go on from that today being dropped a further 3lb. A specialist 2 1/2 miler, Yes Sir has 5 wins and a second from 8 starts on good to firm ground (also dsq when hammering Natal at Ayr 18 months ago). If near his best Yes Sir is in a different league and he should easily account for an average field of Wetherby C+D plodders.

3.45 Punchestown : The one I like here is Imaalhall ; a big improver in the spring - winning two and may be considered a bit unlucky not to win more as he unseated in two also when fancied by connections ( Though far too early in the race to be sure of a success ) ; the early money for him today may well prove to be a wise investment ; the best odds as I write is 9/1 with Ladbrokes and this looks a rock solid eway bet.

Fingers Crossed

** ps. Just had a txt from a friend in Wicklow ( where the horse is trained ) and he confirmed that the yard are hopeful of a big showing today.

AMERICAN MADNESS 14/1 (EW) 17:00 Lingfield

On handicap debut last month he posted an encouraging third at the same distance on all weather at Great Leighs. He has a chance to go one better here. Second in that race was one of the favourites here, Princess India when they were on level weights, she gives the selection 2 pounds here which can overcome the 1 1/4 lengths she beat him by. James Pollard is another danger but Princess India beat him by 5 lengths over course and distance on his last showing. On this basis American Madness should be in the frame come the finishing post.

2:10 Wetherby - Graze On And On

Out of the horse that have ran before over hurdles he has by far the best form. Finished a close third last time out over ground that seemingly didn't suit and with a jockey on board who knows how to win this race, he will take all the beating.

The market will tell us more about the rest, but provinding there is no special newcomer to hurdling, Graze On And On is the fancy.

4:00 Lingfield - Calligrapher (NAP)

Not a speculative selection by any means, but in this high quality race odds-on Calligrapher is the pick of the bunch. On current form is the best horse in the race and the obvious pick after winning last time out.

2.30 Uttoxeter Tir Gra

Not convinced with this horse at all and wouldn't take much from it's win last time out at 25-1 with both fav's just not turning up on the day. I would advise to Lay this especially with a few types in this race that look to be in with a squeek.

2.30 Uttoxeter Return Home

Fallen down the handicapp in recent seasons but a hint of coming back to form at Uttoxeter in July off 87 with few horse's coming out of that in good shape. A return here of 79 should give him place chances. I would advise small e/w.

4.40 Uttoxeter I'm The Decider

A trick little Chase here but I'm The Decider really look's like he's getting the hang of jumping fences after a promising debut behind the progressive Kirbys Vic. I definatley think this is a case of 3rd time lucky for I'm The Decider and Noel Fehliy is a man in top form at the moment. I would advise a win bet.

5.00-James Pollard

Merlin i feel this will go very close mate. Sorry im late with this!

Ideal distance after doing nothing over shorter, as merlin pointed out LTO over CD couldn't get through after coasting and looking like the winner, yard feel that Spencer will do a better job today, I think this will win this if Spencer can hold it up then go for the gaps, with luck in running we could be onto a good thing here Cool

Good Luck

Great write ups today, well done all those who contributed. Even when people tip losers you can't complain when they go into that much depth.

Keep it up

A couple of runners tonight that i like to follow as they are C Brittain runners the first being a maiden....

7.20 WAHAN struggled in its first run but ted durcan comes for the ride which is an interesting booking as he doesnt ride for brittain often...stable hittin some form and a massive e/w price available on Betfair. Place money for this one.

8.50 ALWAYS READY seems to have lost his way a little bit since its first win...consistant before than reading 22422 have to stand up and respect that n callan is coming for the ride and normally does the business for the trainer. CD winner and blinkered first time 15/1 on Betfair again a big big price to be taken

9.20 TAMDIID have continually backed this with no luck but not going to give up now!!! lol will win one day at a big price and hope today is that day!! loves the course and finally comes to the plate at a winnable mark...again as with all runners the stables hitting form and banging in some winners......big price on Betfair 21/1

Good Luck Win
