Thought I could start this thread... Very Happy

Silver Grecian 14.40 Warwick is maybe a bit short for my likings, but his win last time was impressive and can not see anything in the field beating him

5.15 Doncaster 7furlong class 4 race.
Sakhees Pearl was made 66/1 on its debut but that was 267 days ago and will probally need the run.
my NAP is GLOBAL CONQUEST A.Nicolls on for P.Eddery im not alover of either this jockey or trainer yet going through the field I find it hard to see what will beat it here, its previous run it started slowly over 6f and ran on strongly, lto again over 6furlong got beat a head after running on well todays 7f will suit this horse ideally and is my NAP today.
My n/b 3.35 Don FRENCH APPLAUSE finished 2nd lto in a class 4 and found the 1mile to much, the 4th in that race has since been out and won todays drop back in trip 7f will be ideal and will take all the beating here.
I fancy a couple of others one up at Bells Valain N.Carbery on board I backed this last time out and it didnt quite get home again the drop back in trip will come into play here. No
7.10Hay BLACK SNOWFLAKE 1st evens to odds on the boys in blue to have this race,I also like INDIAN ART 1st in the 70clock Salisbury good luck all Win

4.35 SANDOWN

ALPEN GLEN (NAP)

This Johnston filly looked very strong LTO when beating stable mate Eastern Aria by nearly three lengths. The form of that run as since been franked as Eastern Aria went on to score yesterday. That effort came over todays trip and going and although now facing a six pound rise in the weights i doubt the handicapper as the grasp of her yet. She's coming up against some fair performers but most seem to be out of form. The ones that managed to get there heads in front LTO are Australia Day, Jack Dawkins and Mountain Pride but all seem to be on a stiffish mark now with there penalty's. This should leave the race wide open for Alpen Glen who should get a good gallop from stable mate Road to Love.

Good Luck All. Fingers Crossed

3.35 DONCASTER

FRENCH APPLAUSE (NB)

I don't think the race is totally straight forward but i think another step down in distance for the Tate gelding will be enough to score at third time of asking. He goes on good-firm today for the first time but i feel this shouldn't be a problem as breeding sire Royal Applause went well on this type of ground. Of the others, if Navajo Nation can over come the long absence i feel he will be in with a chance based on his LTO run over todays trip of seven. Arteus as ran some strong races over seven on good-firm which put him in as the main danger here. If running up to those two efforts here things could go very close.

Good Luck All. Fingers Crossed

2.40 WARWICK

SILVER GRECIAN

Channon lines up the field with two of the five runners here. Both of his horses managed to poke there heads in front LTO over todays trip and on todays going which will give them possible chances. The Dascombe newcomer will have to be feared with the stables two year olds on teriffic form but the lack of big race entries suggest he's not one of the better one's and he would have to be some thing special to top the favourite. Abandagold also won LTO over todays conditions but i feel more improvement needed here. The J Ryan runner Silver Grecian was massively impressive on debut at Newmarket. He was a four length winner that day and returns here under the same conditions and under the same guidance ship of Michael Hills. This should be a straight forward visit.

hello i am new here and just found this site whilst taking a diversion from burning the midnight oil for my finals next week and i thought i would introduce myself by posting a few views on a few races. My grandad got me into racing from an early age so i hope i can help give you a few winners although i aint no expert and as i learned from grandad you have your good and bad days in every walk of life and betting is no different and the most important advice he gave me was NEVER chase your losses, just take it on the chin tomorrows another day,and NEVER bet in multiples more than doubles as its hard to find one winner never mind 2,3,4 etc.My horses for today are 1st ALANBROOK 5.05 SANDOWN,Mark Johnstone is a shrewd trainer and this horse has been a bit dissapointing in its recent outings having been backed well pre race, this also a step up in trip by 2f but thats my main reason i fancy it today i feel its what is needed to see it get its head in front althogh i would be much happier with a drop of rain as it won its maiden on softer ground and its best run without winning behind the very consistent treble winning SIMON GRAY was on good/soft so a bit a rain would enhance my confidence a bit more but i make this horse a 4pt win/6pt place bet in my calculations. For my next bet i will head north to DONCASTER 5.15 and take a chance at a decent price on KYLEENE a kyllachy filly who makes her seasonal reappearance for a top trainer in my eyes j noseda, this filly finished 5th 4 3/4 lengths behind the smart DAMINIYAT GIRL on her last appearance and nothing in this field has faced the level of horse that one has faced plus noseda has had 4 winners and 4 places from his last 20 runners so is a trainer in form and at the prices i would rather chance this than pat eddreys horse which will be the favourite and did run well last time but last jock up prefers sandown as does brother paul whereas stable jock shane kelly gets the leg up for the 1st time here so i shall make her also a 2ptwin/6pt place bet. Fingers Crossed KYLEENE now a non runner Rant pity that i realy fancied it so i shall go with a horse who has a good a chance as any out today Lose FRENCH APPLAUSE 3.35 DONCASTER owned by tom tate himself and with stable jock fenton on board dropping back in ditance twice now should see him get his maiden win its a very skinny price i know but it aint got much to beat and a win is a win Cheeky and my Lay of the day just has to be 1st CONFRONT 4-00 DONCASTER with godolphin running 3 and abdula also running TRANQUIL TIGER thats enogh in my book but what swings it is spencer gets the leg up and a show boat of a jock who is so overated (probably romp in now! lol!) hope not though:hope: Laughing Not bad for a 1st go and 1st RODDICK wins the tennis 3/1 as predicted in the tennis thread! Happy Days so off out to party now see you tomorrow. Very Happy Very Happy

2.50 Sandown - ANGEL'S PURSUIT (NB)

This looks a competitive renewal of the Dragon Stakes, and it gives the selection the perfect opportunity to atone for his slightly unlucky defeat at Royal Ascot last time. He is a Pastoral Pursuits half brother to the top class juvenile Dark Angel, winner of the Mill Reef and Middle Park Stakes as a two-year old, and made a winning debut when overcoming greenness and showing a good turn of foot to draw clear and score by 2½ lengths from the more experience Mijas Playa in a 5f maiden at Newmarket. He was sent off favourite for the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot last time off the back of his debut win, though the yard had enjoyed a good day and connections had talked him up prior to the race; missed the kick, putting himself on the back foot from the off, and was a little outpaced when the pace increased, but was staying on when finding trouble approaching the furlong marker. He attempting to mount another challenge but once again found his path blocked and his jockey eventually gave up and allowed him to coast home in the final 100 yards, finishing on the bit and full of running. He may not have won, though it is undeniable he was unlucky not to have gone a lot closer, the slow start also no help, and should be well suited by this stiff 5f, looking in need of slightly further last time. He is sure to be popular due to the unlucky nature of his defeat last time, allied with the regard in which he is held, but he looked a very promising sort on debut and is well worth another chance to show his true worth here. The Mick Channon trained Di Stefano finished third in the Windsor Castle Stakes last time, finishing nicely clear of the unlucky in running Angel's Pursuits, finishing off to good effect, though was undoubtedly helped by the bias towards the stands side. He had taken a couple of runs to find his feet, making virtually all to land a 5f maiden at Ripon; his latest outing gives him the pick of the form, but the selection has real prospects of reversing the form here and may want 6f already, though the stiff nature of the track will suit in that respect. There are some unexposed, highly promising sorts who look a threat to selection, none more so than the Tom Dascombe trained Brambleberry, a Cape Cross filly, out of a top class miler who has produced a couple of nice sorts in Man O Desert and Master Wells. She is bred to appreciate a bit further in time but looked to have a fair amount of speed when making a winning debut in a 5f fillies' maiden on the polytrack a Lingfield, racing prominently and overcoming going wide on the bend to kick clear and then hold on well under a kind ride to score by 1¼ from subsequent winner Virginia Hall. She looked pretty straight that day, so how much improvement there is could be a moot point, but the fact she was sharp enough to make a winning debut despite being bred to want further suggests she possesses a lot of natural ability, and though the stable jockey prefers the yard's other runner, this filly is not to be underestimated here. The stablemate is called Mdawee and he, too, made a winning debut recently, his victory coming in a 5f auction maiden at Warwick eight days ago when showing a willing attitude to see off Reddy To Star, runner up on her previous three outings, and score by half a length. That form needs improving upon but it looks significant that he has been chosen by Richard Kingscote over Brambleberry and he is respected for that fact, though needs slightly more here on the form book. Iver Bridge Lad kept smart company on his first two starts, finding the useful Red Jazz 5 lengths too good for him on debut in 5f maiden at Windsor in April before finishing a 7½ length third behind useful early season speedster Monsieur Chevalier in a 5f conditions contest at Newmarket a couple of weeks later. He wasn't seen again until last month when breezing home in a 6f auction maiden at Kempton when scoring effortlessly by 5 lengths from Noble Greek, though the form is nothing to write home about; ground should be to his liking but a place his best hope here. The others are either exposed or have a lot to find on the book.

3.25 Sandown - DREAMSPEED (NAP)

This is always a decent maiden, won by the likes of No Excuse Needed, Mister Monet, Scintillo and Zacinto, whose impressive 7 length demolition job still lives fresh in the memory. The selection is a newcomer, trained by Andrew Balding, and he is a Barathea half brother to the yard's talented but quirky performer Dream Eater, a useful juvenile over 6/7f, winning a valuable sales race, later finishing fifth in the 2000 Guineas and placing in the Jersey Stakes. His two other siblings - It's Toast and Tremelo Pointe - were winners over 5f and 1m respectively. He cost 62,000gns as a yearling and is very highly regarded at Kingsclere, his work said to be of the highest order; it's true the yard don't tend to rush their juveniles but they are 4-20 with their youngsters this season, most of them going close on debut, and they've shown in the past that they can ready a youngster to score on debut. William Buick has presumably chosen this colt over the yard's other runner, White Devil, and he represents fantastic value against the short priced favourite considering the regard in which he is held and given his classy pedigree. The likely short priced favourite is the Mark Johnston trained Pytheas, and it's true that the son of Seeking The Gold should probably have made a winning debut when being collared close home in a 7f maiden at Redcar a couple of weeks ago. He was well fancied to make a winning debut, starting a very well backed 6/4 favourite and was clear passing the two furlong marker, looking set to make a winning debut, but he understandably got tired near the finish, his fitness and inexpereince perhaps contributing factors also and he was collared right on the line by the more streetwise Lamh Albasser. However, it was a most creditable effort, particularly as he'd been so far clear and maintained the sizeable advantage for so long before succumbing to a more experienced rival; yard record in this is good (won it in 2003 and 2004) and sure to put experience to good use, but he is a very short price and is up against some smartly bred newcomers, and the form of his debut run is hardly anything out of the ordinary either. Another likely sort on breeding is the Walter Swinburn trained Halyard, a cleverly named son of Halling, and the first foal of a mare who was a decent sort up to and over 1m for Barry Hills, winning at Listed level and came from a decent family, that of Oaks winner Bireme (also a half sister to the decent performer La Spezia and useful dual purpose performer Torphichen). This colt has all the right paper credentials and is apparently thought quite a bit of, but the Swinburn have been in abysmal form of late, especially in the juvenile department (0-13) and, although market confidence would offer hope, the likelihood is he'll need this outing. David Lanigan introduces Logos Astra here, a US bred son of Elusive Quality, out of a mare who has produced the top class US performer Surya and mile winners Mundus Novus and Wind Silence; dam was a very smart performer over 1m herself in France as a three-year old. His pedigree suggests this should be about his trip and yard had their first juvenile winner of the season last week; Jamie Spencer an eyecatching booking but yard yet to produce a two-year old debut winner in the two years it has been in operation and likely this son of Elusive Quality will prove better for the experience. Richard Hannon is always to be feared in these kind of contests, and the veteran Herridge handler is doubly represented here, the first string (on jockey bookings) appears to be Beyond The City, a US bred son Elusive Quality who cost €75,000 as a yearling and is from a relatively modest US family. However, he commands instant respect hailing from the yard he does and market check is essential (work reportedly been very good). His stablemate is City Of Rome, an Elusive City colt who fetched €55,000 at the sales and is related to the top class juvenile Magic Ring; second string on jockey bookings but bred to make a two-year old and it will be interesting to see how the markets speaks of him in relation to his stablemate here. One of the other runners to have had the benefit of an outing is the Marco Botti trained Branderburgo, a son of High Chaparral from the family of Docofthebay who showed enough on his debut to suggest he has ability. He attracted support ahead of his debut run in a decent 6f maiden at Doncaster last month, starting 12/1; travelled very well into contention until the pace quickened and he was unable to go with it, weakening to finish sixth of 15 behind Alrasm and subsequent Chesham winner Big Audio. Being by High Chaparral, this step up to 7f is sure to suit, and the form of his debut run is working out pretty well; yard's juveniles always come on for their first run and he is a major player here now stepped up in trip and with a run under his belt. One other worthy of a mention is the Clive Cox trained Poor Prince, but the son of Royal Applause, out of a mare who is related to high class sprinter Tamarisk and the top class Triptych, would only become of interest if there was a significant market move, otherwise he is likely to need this run (only debut winner this year from the yard, Xtension, very well backed ahead of winning debut at Goodwood last month). The booking of Philip Robinson catches the eye.

4.00 Sandown - COVERT AMBITION

He is a well bred son of Singspiel, out of a mare who won the Yorkshire Oaks, and he made a highly impressive winning debut, his only outing at three, when stretching 7 lengths clearly of his inferior rivals to land a 10f maiden at Nottingham in testing conditions, though was value for further and looked clueless throughout until everything clicked inside the closing stages. He made his reappearance in a decent 10f handicap on the polytrack at Kempton last month off a handicap mark of 94; had the worst of the draw but overcame that and settled in midfield until being asked to move closer to the pace once down the home straight. He was eventually asked to mount his challenge approaching the final furlong, which he did and stayed on powerfully inside the final 150 yards to assert readily and score by 1¾ lengths from Rattan. This clearly requires more but the fact is he has looked a colt of real potential and looks very much an unexposed improver after just two outings, both of which he was won very well, overcoming greenness and a poor draw. He promises to stay further eventually but this track should play to his strengths, as will any of the forecast rain, and he looks far from the weakest of the three Godolphin representatives here. Looks the value of the race. The Sir Michael Stoute trained Confront is likely to be all the rage here following his second placing in the Group 3 Diomed Stakes at Epsom behind Mac Love last time. The now gelded son of Nayef had been touted as Guineas material after winning a minor event at Ascot from the smart Stimulation, but a modest reappearance run in the Greenham Stakes in testing conditions soon ended his classic aspirations. He didn't fare much better on his only other outing last autumn, finishing a well held fourth in a 1m conditions event at Great Leighs. He was gelded over the winter and it seemed to have made the difference when winning a 9f handicap at Newmarket off top weight on his seasonal reappearance, showing a wicked turn of foot close home to run out a cosy enough 1¼ length victor. He was immediately stepped back up into pattern company at Epsom last time, but he found the veteran Mac Love far too good for him at the finish, though it later transpired he'd pulled off a shoe. This step up in trip should suit, as will the track, and should be involved at the finish, though, as ever with the yard's runners, looks short enough on what he's actually achieved to date. Kirklees is the choice of Godolphin's number one jockey Frankie Dettori, and the son of Jade Robbery does have the strongest form in the book of the yard's three runners. He was a very smart juvenile for Mark Johnston (Group 1 winner in Italy) but only saw the track twice at three, winning on both occasions, one being a 10f Listed Race at Goodwood; again only seen twice last season, placing on both outings at Listed/Group 3 level at Newmarket over 9/10f. He has already run four times this year in Dubai at Nad Al Sheba, winning a 10f handicap by an easy 3¼ lengths from Hattan, winning with plenty in hand; outclassed in a Group 3 next time and then, unsurprisingly, found Group 1 company well beyond him when never involved in the Dubai Sheema Classic. He is now back down to a much more realistic level but yard's horses returning from the Carnival have tended to need their first outing back in the UK so far this season. The Henry Cecil trained Tranquil Tiger is best when allowed to make all, though did track the pace last time before slipping the field by the best part of 5/6 lengths in a 10f Listed contest at Goodwood before gamely holding off a late charge from Halicarnassus to score by a neck. He made all to land a similar contest over the same course and distance last autumn; dangerous if allowed to dictate, which he may well be allowed to do here, but a 3lbs penalty makes life difficult and, though he won't go down with a fight, will probably find at least one too good for him here. Halicarnassus is an infrequent winner these days but is often highly tried, though has been more than unlucky not to have won at least one of his previous four outings, going down by just a nose to Mad Rush in a 12f Listed contest at Goodwood. He never looked happy last time in the Listed Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot last time but this small field scenario probably suits better; however, often finds one too good at this level and similar fate awaits him here. The third Godolphin representative is the ex-French colt Democrate, the son of Dalakhani, formerly trained by Andre Fabre, last seen beating just one home in the French Derby. He had won the Group 2 Prix Hocquart at Longchamp the time before that, but 397 day absence to overcome, untried on ground this quick and looks the least likely of the Godolphin trio.

3.45 Warwick - Keep Dancing : Yet to win in seven starts but regularly makes the frame - has dropped 6 pounds since the start of the season & Probert knocks off 3 more ; looks fair eway value at around 10/1 but only to smallish stakes in an open race.

** Power's are 10/1 and will pay the SP if bigger Win

Still to win a race but largely consistent efforts this year, second to Darley Sun over course and distance last time. Should be there or thereabouts once more.
