Obviously this is a bit counting the chickens, haha but if anyone hasn't noticed there is one British side left in the Waffa Cup. If they manage to beat the Italians[dont see why not as Everton gave them a pummelling at home] it will be a European Final for the 1st time since i was born. Burners has managed to get a couple of briefs so was wondering if anyone would like to meet up on the day in question[dont know if we will be going, if the Gers dont make it, that will be upto the Big guy as he got the tickets]. KanKeano said he might pop in and have a sociable one, would anyone else be up for it that stays in the area.
Think we are leaving on the Tues night[have to confirm though] _________________ Challenge Winners for November

I can confirm that Burners and Coopsy will be hitting Manchester on Tuesday 13th May as that is the hotel booked and confirmed now.
If The Gers make it past the Italians Coopsy and i will be part of the light blue invasion of the North West of England that will reach anything between 50,000 and 100,000 bluenoses all out for a result and one hell of a party.
As Coopsy has said anyone up for a meet for a few light beverages during our stay in Manchester is more than welcome to post so we can arrange a suitable time and place.
Now anyone that knows or has met us will already be aware that i'm the sensible one and Coopsy will be the outrageous mangled mess as usual {just kidding buddy}
Look forward to seeing if anyone is up for meeting the gruesome twosome in the flesh {not a pretty sight you have been warned folks}
Cheers folks

Will have to use that 'Big Squad' we have, maybe even Boydy will get a game
Burners, was it Dicky Advocaat, that was manager when we went to Munich and trounced them and got beat 1-0, maybe revenge on his mind with his new Zenit, Rangers were awesome that night _________________ Challenge Winners for November

Good luck guys. It will be a fine night out no matter who plays in final. Hopefully a few other OLBGers pop in and meet you both as I had the pleasure of doing at my "Local".
If (WHEN) Rangers make it to the final, I will take a few toilet breaks when a goal is needed Alfie's Toilet Break = Goal curse/blessing is still going strong |

Well Coopsy first installment tonight,
After reading and speaking to folk this week it's all over and we need'nt bother planning for Rangers getting to Waffa cup final in Manchester as Rangers are a tired team depleted by injuries and suspensions and we won't be able to handle the "Serie A Giants" that are Fiorentina.
While all this may prove to be true and this tie is in fact a bridge too far for The Bears i am sure there are a lot of supporters of other {lesser} teams wishing they had a crack at Fiorentina for a place in the Waffa final.
I'll nail the colours to the mast [again] and say i don't see us getting beat tonight as i think the adrenalin of the occasion could see any fringe players brought in tonight for cover rising to the challenge and giving us a chance in Florence next week. Right now i'd gladly accept 1-0 and take my chances in Italy next week with fergie and thommo back [possibly Mcgregor aswell] as you stated last night we will get chances to score over there and it's just a case of taking them when they come along.
If it all goes Pete Tong no doubt we will be in for some stick on this and other threads but that will be after the result as i know a lot of the manky mob are dreading these two matches in fear we get through and get a crack at winning the whole thing.
C'mon Rangers

Burners have to admit mate, as soon as i woke up this morning, i got the 3 sets of trousers at the ready, as you say though the adrenalin kicking in to the 'tired' 'depleted' team, it will just be a case of keeping it to a minimum as it is only the semi-final of the Waffa and still chasing the 4 trophies, as the tip comments say, key players playing there key roles and we will have nowt to fear, the bookies are getting hammered with bets for Fiorentina, lets hope the performance tonight matches the performances against [Barca, Panathinaikos, Bremen & Sporting] & not the Lyon game and looking at those 4 IMO only 2 worse than Fiorentina and the one man Diego just like the one man Mutu, every chance big guy and with the Italians form in the Waffa at home, The Bears could score, easily

Well Burners all we have to do, is what we done in France, Germany, Greece & Portugal and a zero - zero against that mob last night, with the team that we had out, I fancy our chances
Maybe in Italy, we might get to see what there Goalie looks like

well we had to wait over 2 hours to see what the goalie looked like but in the end we get 5 up close shots of him!
good stuff boys!
I've got to say having watched both the legs of that I was both appalled at the tactics used and disguested that were not going there to play a team who we already beat easily before. Our one bad leg in Italy cost us the tournament I believe as Rangers would have probably tried to play more attacking had they played Everton.
Despite your tactics I applaud the players (apart from that idiot that got sent off), the managers and the fans for some fantastic work to get where they are.
I think it's yours for the taking now, Zenit are a decent side who looked a bit dazed when we played them but they were completely out of season, they've played well to get passed Bayern and will be a tough game.
You could see last night Fiorentina for all their chances just didn't really look like scoring and when Vierie's name was mentioned for that penalty I straight away bet on him to miss as despite the way the commentators always rave about him he seems to waste a lot of chances and look a bit of a donkey when he comes off the bench for them!
Good Luck!  |
