Oscars 2010 Betting Odds For Best Picture And Best Director Both Have The Hurt Locker Favoured Over Avatar
Thursday 04 March 2010 at 12:47
Oscars 2010 Betting Odds are becoming more and more popular with just days to go until Sunday’s ceremony and it looks as though The Hurt Locker is expected to beat Avatar in two of the most prestigious categories, although Avatar should still win more Oscars than The Hurt Locker.
James Cameron A No Hoper For Best Director But Could Still Win Best Picture
There is little doubt that James Cameron would love to win the Best Director and Best picture for his spectacular film Avatar but it seems his ex wife Kathryn Bigelow will gazump him for both awards with The Hurt Locker. James Cameron is second favourite to win Best Director and can be backed at 10/3 with SkyBet and Ladbrokes whilst Kathryn Bigelow is favourite at just 1/4 with Paddy Power and VC Bet. That should make it 1-0 to The Hurt Locker and after the Best Picture is announced it could be 2-0, Kathryn Bigelow is also favourite for that (albeit a more narrow one) at 5/6 with SkyBet and Ladbrokes whilst Avatar is 5/4 with bet365, who offer up to £200 in free bets to new customers.
Avatar Could Win More Awards Overall Than The Hurt Locker
Overall it looks as though Avatar and James Cameron could get the last laugh as the bookies think in total Avatar will win more Oscars than The Hurt Locker. Bet365, who offer up to £200 in free bets are offering just 8/15 that Avatar wins more Oscars whilst The Hurt Locker can be backed at 11/8 with Bet365. The Hurt Locker is likely to get the better of Avatar in the more prestigious categories but in terms of sound effects and visual effects Avatar could pick up quite a few awards.
