Ricky Hatton Odds Suggest He Could Weigh In Heavy When He Returns To The Ring
Friday 15 January 2010 at 15:34
Ricky Hatton has announced he will be returning to the ring as a light welterweight this year and SkyBet think there is a good chance he could fail to shed enough weight and weigh in heavy.
Ricky Hatton Could Struggle To Lose Weight In Time
Ricky ‘Fatton’ Hatton is well known for piling on the pounds between fights and SkyBet are offering 7/2 that ‘The Hitman’ weighs in above the 140lb light welterweight limit. You can get 7/4 with SkyBet that he weighs in under the limit and 10/11 to weigh exactly 140lbs on his comeback. Sky Bet’s boxing betting spokesman Scott Springgay said:
“Ricky isn’t in the best of shapes right now. He could come in slightly over the weight at his first attempt and have to do a bit of exercise and sweating to get down to the 140lb limit so the 7/2 on offer that he comes in too heavy might be the big value.”
Two Possible Opponents Lined Up For Ricky Hatton
It has been well touted that Ricky Hatton will fight Mexican three-weight world champion Juan Manuel Marquez on his return and SkyBet have already priced up that fight should it happen. Marquez is the favourite to win at 8/11 with SkyBet whilst Hatton is a narrow outsider at 11/10 with SkyBet. It certainly looks as though that could go either way. Another possible opponent for Hatton is IBF light-welterweight champion Juan Urango and should Hatton fight Urango he would be the favourite at 2/5 with SkyBet whilst Urango would be 7/4 with SkyBet.
