Tuesday 29 December 2009 at 12:32
The Oscars Best Actor Betting Odds have Jeff Bridges as a narrow favourite over George Clooney despite the fact that George Clooney is favourite to beat Jeff Bridges to the Golden Globe for Best Actor next month.
George Clooney Likely To Pick Up One Award But It Might Not Be The Oscar
George Clooney is the evens favourite with Paddy Power and Bet365 to win the Golden Globe for Best Actor, well ahead of Jeff Bridges who is 15/8 with SkyBet. However when it comes to the Oscars Betting Odds, George Clooney may be 11/8 favourite with Paddy Power but he is 15/8 with William Hill to win for his role in Up In The Air and that puts him behind Jeff Bridges, who is likely to get an Oscar nomination for Crazy Heart, who is 7/4 with Paddy Power and William Hill.
Bookies Price Up A Ten Actor Shortlist
The Oscar nominees are not yet even known so Paddy Power and William Hill have had to price up ten actors in the Oscars Best Actor Betting Odds. Colin Firth and Jeremy Renner are 6/1 with Paddy Power and William Hill respectively. Interestingly Colin Firth is the only one of that pair to have been nominated for a Golden Globe. Other actors to look out for include Daniel Day Lewis who is 16/1 with William Hill but just 10/1 with Paddy power and also Matt Damon who is 33/1 with William Hill.
