Niche Market New Favourite In Betting For 2010 Grand National
Thursday 03 December 2009 at 18:02
Denman made all the headlines last weekend for his win in the Hennessy Gold Cup but the third placed horse at Newbury, Niche Market, has caught the eye of the bookmakers and is now favourite for the 2010 Grand National.
Niche Now Favourite In The Grand National Market
Niche Market won the Irish National last year and a number of bookmakers now make the eight-year-old gelding as low as 16/1 to win at Aintree as well.
Trainer Bob Buckler was mightily impressed with his charge’s performance at Newbury saying: “What a performance he put in - he is so genuine and tried his heart out. He has come back fine and it is just a case of seeing what we do now. His owner is keen to have a go at the Gold Cup and the French National in May but the Grand National is his main aim and he could be nicely weighted in that."
Welsh National Could Be Next
Buckler also stated that the Welsh National could be in the plans as preparation for Aintree but much would depend on Niche Market’s new handicap mark after Newbury. An outing over hurdles was also a possibility.
Niche Market can still be backed at 20/1 with Bet365, Skybet, Paddy Power and Stan James.
