Michael Owen Ready To Move And Everton Are In Front Of Aston Villa And Hull City In The Queue
Wednesday 01 July 2009 at 11:20
Michael Owen can now move on a free transfer with his contract having expired at Newcastle and it seems the same clubs are continuously being linked with the striker.
Everton Seems Right For Owen
Everton seem to be in pole position to sign Owen, they are rated 2/1 favourites with SkyBet to sign the former England player and other bookies offer an even shorter price. Everton have struggled to bring top class strikers to Goodison Park and this seems an opportunity to do exactly that so it would be no surprise to see Owen at Everton next season.
Aston Villa In With Strong Chance
Aston Villa are next best and they are 3/1 with Blue Square to get their hands on Owen. Martin O’Neill seems to get the best out of players and playing with Emile Heskey has always brought about the best I Owen so Villa would seem a good move a year ahead of the World Cup Finals. He wouldn’t necessarily be first choice with Agbonlahor at the club and that is the major drawback.
Hull City Make Serious Bid£
Most bookies have Hull City in with an even chance as Aston Villa of signing Owen but Paddy Power are offering a stand out price of 5/1 that Hull City pull off one of the transfer coups of the summer. Some have suggested Phil Brown’s pursuit of Owen is just a publicity stunt and Paddy Power must be subscribing to that theory.
Bookies Opinion Divided Over Liverpool
The bookies have a very differing opinion about Liverpool’s chances of bringing back Owen, SkyBet offer just 11/2 whilst Blue Square are offering 16/1 about a return to Anfield.
