Premiership Relegation Betting Suggests Hull Will Survive
Friday 22 May 2009 at 09:58
Premiership RelegationPremiership Relegation Odds give Hull hope of staying up with Middlebrough and Newcastle the two teams likely to join West Brom in the Championship next season.

Boro A Cert To Go Down

Middlesbrough are the most likely to go down of those still with a chance of staying up and can be backed at just 1/50 with Paddy Power and Coral to be relegated. They play West Ham at Upton Park on Sunday and whilst that is a winnable game (Boro are decent odds at 2/1 with Bet365 and Ladbrokes) but their future is not in their own hands so they could win and still go down.

Newcastle Celebrate Too Early

Newcastle thought they had scraped survival when they beat Boro but a loss to Fulham whilst Hull drew at Bolton has put them back into the bottom three. They are now just 4/7 with Coral and William Hill to go down and they need at least a point at Aston Villa on Sunday to have a chance. Newcastle are 2/1 with William Hill and VC Bet to win that match and 5/2 with Paddy Power to get a draw.

Hull Should Survive But They Have Tough Game

Hull are most at risk of those sides outside of the drop zone, they hover just one point above Newcastle and have a worse goal difference so they need to match Newcastle’s result or beat it. They are 13/8 with Bet365 and Stan James to go down. Hull have a home game against Man Utd which you would assume will mean they get no points but Man Utd could field a weakened side as they have the Champions League Final on Wednesday. Hull are 21/10 with Stan James to win the game and 13/5 with Blue Square to get a draw, the latter looks more likely.

Sunderland Have Outside Chance Of Relegation

Sunderland are still not safe having lost to Portsmouth on Monday but the points they have in the bag should be enough, they are 8/1 with Bet365 and William Hill to go down and they have a very tough game at home to Chelsea. Sunderland are 3/1 with Bet365 and Coral to win that game and 13/5 with Bet365 and Ladbrokes to get a draw.
