Premiership Relegation Betting Odds Suggest Drop Looms For Newcastle And Middlesbrough
Monday 04 May 2009 at 11:22
Premiership Relegation is now in sight for Newcastle and Middlesbrough, as well as West Brom, after all three sides lost once again at the weekend. With Hull able to move six points clear of the relegation zone with a win tonight it is possible all three could be doomed before the final game of the season.
West Brom Trying To Make A Fight Of It
West Brom have at least closed the gap on their relegation rivals with a win last week and they sit three points behind Boro and Newcastle and six points from safety. They look as good as relegated at 1/100 with Bet365 and Coral and can be backed at 1/4 with Coral to finish bottom. They could still pick up some points and finish second bottom though.
Middlesbrough Need To Win Easier Games
Middlesbrough were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United on Saturday and whilst losing games like that won’t decide their fate, they are running out of time. They look very likely to go down at 1/5 with Paddy Power and Stan James and it is still feasible that they could finish bottom at 6/1 with Stan James.
Newcastle Could Yet Finish Bottom
Some will have been tipping Newcastle for relegation at the start of the season but who would have thought they would be this bad£ They can’t score to save their lives and just 1/2 with Coral to go down. That looks a price worth taking and another price to be considered is the 12/1 with Bet365 for them to finish rock bottom. They don’t look a good side and with an inexperienced manager they could well go the rest of the season without a victory.
Hull And Sunderland Flirt With Danger
The other two sides in big trouble are Hull City and Sunderland, neither of whom seem able to pick up any points at the moment. The one positive they have is the fact that they already have points in the bag against their relegation rivals. Hull are most likely of the two to be dragged in and are 7/4 with Bet365 and Blue Square to go down whilst Sunderland are 10/3 with Bet365 and Stan James.
