Cheltenham Gold Cup Betting Heats Up As Denman Is Passed Fit
Tuesday 03 March 2009 at 13:29
Cheltenham Gold Cup punters were this week informed by Denman part owner Harry Findlay that Denman had showed some of his old sparkle and is on course for the Cheltenham Gold Cup next Friday.
Denman Drift Ends
Last week Findlay had issued a downbeat bulletin about Denman and as a result last year’s Gold Cup winner drifted out to 7/1. That price is still available with Ladbrokes but some bookies have shortened him to as much as 9/2.
Paul Nicholls Trains First Three In Market
Paul Nicholls, trainer of Denman, also has Kauto Star and Neptune Collonges at the head of the betting. Kauto Star won the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2007 and finished second in 2008 so should clearly run well and is the 15/8 favourite with William Hill and Sportingbet. Neptune Collonges finished a short head behind Kauto Star last year and is 6/1 with Ladbrokes and Coral.
Will Hennessy Winner Take Gold Cup Again£
Madison Du Berlais, winner of this year’s Hennessy Gold Cup is 8/1 with Bet365 and Paddy Power to win the feature race of the Cheltenham Festival whilst Exotic Dancer, who finished second to Kauto Star in 2007, is 12/1 with Sportingbet and William Hill.
