Will It Snow On Christmas Day
Thursday 04 December 2008 at 12:23
The bookies think not but they seem to think there is more of a chance of a festive snow than previously thought because of recent weather patters.
Bookies Fear The Cost Of Christmas Snow
Scotland, the north of England and parts of the midlands were hit by snow this week, the second time that the landscape has been painted white this winter. Freakish October snow showers resulted in the odds being cut on a White Christmas and this latest Wintry blast has meant the odds have been cut again. Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg fears the worst, telling ITN:
We are frozen with fear at the prospect of a white Christmas. Interest in the traditional festive wager has gone into overdrive this year.
Bookies think that the most likely part of the UK to receive snow is Glasgow. Bet365 go 3/1 of a White Christmas there and Bet365 and Stan James both offer 2/9 that it won’t snow in Glasgow. Manchester is 5/1 with Bet365 and Stan James to celebrate Christmas with snow, 1/9 with Bet365 not to.
Snow In London On Christmas Day£
A White Christmas in London is a bit of a rarity but that is where most of the punters money has gone. SkyBet have been forced to cut their price on this twice over the last month and it is now 4/1. Boylesports go the price and they offer 5/1 on a White Christmas in London. Stan James are most confident their won’t be snow in the capital, they offer 1/8 the snow stays away.
Weather Forecast For Rain Before More Snow
The recent cold snap could subside a little with rain and wind forecast for the rest of the week. Forecasters still think there is a good chance of the snow returning in the next three weeks and a White Christmas for most of us is a distinct possibility.
