Manchester United V Villarreal Team News And Betting Odds
Tuesday 25 November 2008 at 12:08
Manchester United travel to Spain, where they have a poor win record and they will be looking to set that right with a win at 7/4 with Ladbrokes and William Hill. A home win for Villarreal is 11/5 with Bet365 and the draw is 15/8 with Paddy Power and Coral.
Manchester United Team News
A late decision will be made over Cristiano Ronaldo’s fitness. Ronaldo is desperate to play having limped out of the goalless draw at Villa Park on Saturday but Sir Alex Ferguson would rather rest the winger. Dimitar Berbatov and Gary Neville are still out injured but Darren Fletcher is returning after a knee injury.
Villarreal Team News
Former United striker Giuseppe Rossi is set to start against his old club but Nihat Kahveci and Joseba Llorente will be missing from the Villarreal attack through injury. Midfielder Diego Godin and Jozy Altidore are also out.
Manchester United v Villarreal Betting Odds
The last three games between these two sides have been 0-0 draws and with United possibly missing Ronaldo it could be best to take United on with the draw at 15/8 with Paddy Power or Coral. Having said that the price on a United win does look good value at 7/4 with Ladbrokes or William Hill.
With the last three games being 0-0 when these teams have played it looks worth a bet to be fourth time lucky at 13/2 with Paddy Power and Sportingbet. 0-0 has clearly been a popular bet as Bet365 have already had to cut it from 11/2 into 5/1. If United manage to win it is likely to be 1-0 and that is 13/2 with Blue Square and William Hill and the same score to Villarreal is 7/1 with Totesport and Blue Square.
This game is likely to be low scoring so it may be best to ignore the anytime goalscorer market and stick to first goalscorers. If you fancy United to get a goal then there are worse bets than Carlos Tevez to score first at 8/1 with Ladbrokes, he should start in place of Dimitar Berbatov.
With at least one side likely to keep a clean sheet it could be a good strategy to back both sides not to concede. A United clean sheet is 9/5 with Paddy Power and a Villarreal clean sheet is 15/8 with Bet365. Under 2.5 goals looks a very good bet at 8/15 with Bet365.
