Ryder Cup Pairings For Fridays Foursomes
Thursday 18 September 2008 at 10:59
Nick Faldo inadvertently shed some light on the European partnerships for the first day of the Ryder Cup when an eagle eyed photographer captured a photo of a Faldo with a piece of paper that appeared to list the opening line ups.
Pairings Likely For Opening Foursomes
It appears that Faldo is going with combinations of nationalites and combining Garcia and Jimenez, Harrington and McDowell, Stenson and Karlsson, Wilson and Casey and Poulter and Rose. Westwood and Hansen were the only pair not from the same country. Faldo could, of course, change things around now that the press have got hold of the possible line-ups but the pairings do have a solid look about them.
Europe Still Favourites For Ryder Cup
News of the pairings hasnt brought any huge change in the outright prices with the bookmakers with Europe still a best priced 21/20 with Paddy Power, USA 13/10 with SkyBet and the Tie 12/1 also with SkyBet.
Faldo’s Mistake Brings In Money For Jimenez
There has been some slight change in the Top European market as a result with Jimenez subject to some support after the news that he may be playing with Garcia. Jimenez is 16/1 to be top European with SkyBet and Garcia is still the clear favourite at a best priced 4/1 with Coral.
Azinger Likely To Go With Pair From Kentucky
US Ryder Cup captain is likely to lead off with local duo Kenny Perry and JB Holmes in an effort to get the crowd behind the home team. Azinger looks the more likely of the two captains to win the battle of the tactics and seems to be keeping the rest of his likely line up close to his chest. Perry is 11/1 with Sportingbet to be Top American and Rookie Holmes is 20/1 with Paddy Power
