Gasquet Favourite In Mercedes Cup Betting Odds As Nadal Pulls Out
Tuesday 08 July 2008 at 11:17  Newly crowned Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal pulled out of the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart on Monday with a knee injury. Muscle pain just above the right knee was to blame and the defending champ told promoters personally that he would be unable to play.

Nadal’s withdrawal leaves Richard Gasquet as the one to beat in the Mercedes Cup odds as he is 9/4 with Bet365 but as short as 6/4 with Ladbrokes who clearly think he has a massive chance of winning.
Four More Pull Out
Four other seeded players also pulled out on Friday which gives the tournament a slightly weaker look to it. The biggest miss will be Rainer Schuettler who was defeated by Nadal in the semi final of Wimbledon as he is now suffering from an elbow injury. This should give an opportunity to some of the second tier players and makes the Mercedes Cup betting wide open.
