Man Utd Still Favourites In Premiership Betting Odds Despite Ronaldo Speculation
Friday 04 July 2008 at 11:59 Manchester United have kept their position at the head of the Premiership betting throughout the summer despite continued speculation that their best player, Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Old Trafford for Real Madrid before the season starts.
Man Utd are 11/8 with SkyBet to win the Premiership next season with Chelsea just behind them in the betting at 2/1 with Bet365 and Sportingbet. Apart from the Ronaldo speculation things after been quiet on the transfer front for United in recent months with only Dimitar Berbatov really being linked with a move up north.
Chelsea Will Have New Look Squad
Chelsea on the other hand have already signed two Portugal players and the Portugal manager. Big Phil Scolari is finally managing in the Premiership and he now has Jose Bosingwa and Deco in the Chelsea squad. Chelsea have also been linked with a number of other players including Robinho, whose move could depend on Ronaldo heading to the Bernabeu.
Arsenal Could Be Weaker Than Last Season
Arsenal have had more players linked with exits from the Emirates Stadium than they have new signings so it is no surprise they are not quite so well fancied at 5/1 with Totesport and Paddy Power. Emmanuel Adebayor looks like he could be on his way to Barcelona and his move could see Arsenal odds drift even further.
Liverpool Need Another Torres
Liverpool are the only other side in with a serious chance of winning the Premiership and they are 15/2 with Sportingbet and William Hill. Liverpool don’t seem to have the money to splash out on massive summer signings which is disappointing considering the success of big money signing Fernando Torres last summer. They are still likely to sign Gareth Barry from Aston Villa and that might see their Premiership odds tumble slightly.
