Lewis Hamilton is second favourite with bookmakers to win the British Grand Prix at Silverstone for the first time in his career.
Raikkonen Is Favourite
The favourite for the race is Kimi Raikkonen who is 11/8 with Boylesports and SkyBet. The Finnish native is a close third in the Drivers’ Championship behind leader and fellow Ferrari team mate Felipe Massa. Massa is the third favourite to win at Silverstone and he can be backed at 11/4 with Totesport.
Lewis Hamilton Needs A Win
Lewis Hamilton is 5/2 with Totesport and Boylesports to gain what would be a massively popular victory. Hamilton is currently fourth in the Drivers’ Championship and could do with a win to put more pressure on the leaders.
Hamilton recently told BBC sport that he is missing the battle he had last year with team mate Fernando Alonso, who now drives for Renault and is 40/1 with SkyBet to win at Silverstone. Alonso ended up leaving McLaren after just one season after he thought the team favoured Brit Hamilton. Hamilton also attributed his success this season to the experience he gained from having Alonso as a team mate.
Podium Finish And Pole Position Betting
Hamilton is 1/3 with SkyBet for a podium finish and 9/4 with Boylesports to gain pole position for the race. Raikkonen is 9/4 with Sportingbet to get pole whilst Massa is 12/5 with Sportingbet.
With Ferrari having such a strong hand it is no surprise they are just 2/5 with SkyBet to have the winning car. McLaren are 9/4 with SkyBet and BMW Sauber are 5/1.
Best British Driver
One bet that is popular for the British Grand Prix is who will be the top British driver. Hamilton is obviously a short priced favourite at 1/6 with SkyBet, David Coulthard is 9/2 and Jenson Button is 10/1. Coulthard recently announced that this season will be his last and he would arguably be an even more popular winner than Hamilton because of that.
