Still No Clear Favourite In Coral Eclipse Betting Odds
Friday 04 July 2008 at 11:11
Coral Eclipse odds may have been out for a week but we still have no clear favourite. Two horses who ran in different races at Royal Ascot are disputing favouritism and there probably won’t be a clear favourite until the day of the race.
Mount Nelson To Improve At The Trip
Mount Nelson was originally installed as the bookmakers favourite following an unlucky looking run in the Queen Anne and he has maintained a fairly steady position in the betting and he is 7/1 with Bet365 and SkyBet. He represents Aidan O’Brien’s only chance in the race and the step back up to ten furlongs should suit well.
Phoenix Tower Bids To Go One Better
The other horse at the head of the market is Phoenix Tower who has two successive second places in group one company. That represents solid form so it is no surprise he has been well backed into 7/2 with Paddy Power and Coral. On his latest outing he was second to Duke Of Marmalade in the Prince Of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Pipedreamer Not Far Behind
Just a short head behind Phoenix Tower in the Prince Of Wales Stakes was Pipedreamer and in similar conditions the two should finish closely again. Pipedreamer is 5/1 with Ladbrokes and William Hill.
Frankie Dettori Eclipse Ride
Godolphin have two runners declared, Campanologist and Literato. Stable jockey Frankie Dettori has decided to ride Campanologist who is 10/1 with Stan James. Campanologist won the King Edward VII Stakes over a mile and a half at Royal Ascot but also had the speed to win over nine furlongs in a listed race earlier in the season. Literato will be ridden by Darryll Holland and is 10/1 with Bet365 and Sportingbet.
