Tiger: Favourite For WGC Bridgestone Invitational
Tuesday 31 July 2007 at 09:56 Tiger Woods is the favourite for this week's WGC Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone.
Bookies VC Bet say that cutting the price on him is a matter of when, not if.
Woods, the two-time defending champion, is the favourite to win the event (3/1 with VC Bet) followed by Jim Furyk (12/1 with Boylesports) and Vijay Singh (16/1 with Bet365).
Commentators, however, have expressed doubts about Woods' form at the moment, saying he may not do himself justice on Sunday.
But concerns that the recent birth of his child may have dampened his game do not appear to be shared by those staking lumps on the man who has won the event no less than five times.
The event fields about half the number of golfers seen at a standard professional golf competition, which may encourage punters who normally take to each-way bets to make bolder calls on the winner.
Tiger Woods holds the tournament record score with an aggregate of 259 which he set in 2000.
