Hatton Fever Expected Again
Thursday 02 August 2007 at 09:40  Odds on Ricky Hatton in his upcoming fight against Floyd Mayweather look ready to shorten after its has been announced that he will be arranging a massive launch conference for fans.
Unusually, Hatton is not the favourite - at 34/21 to win with Bet365 - but his lawyer Gareth Williams told BBC Sport that a big turnout at a pre-fight launch in Manchester will give him the psychological edge.
In June, when Hatton knocked out Mexican Jose Luis Castillo in the fourth round, he had the unprecedented support of 10,000 British fans who flew to Las Vegas for their hero.
Williams said the press conference before that fight made a big impact on Hatton, so if the next one reaches unprecedented size, as planned, punters can expect another boost.
"A public conference, with thousands of Ricky fans present, would be amazing, he told BBC Sport.
Playing to the public is part of the fighter's game and punters will be interested to see if the press conference in Manchester before the fight in Las Vegas on December 8th shortens odds on him, or lengthens them on Mayweather, who is 11/25 to win with Bet365.
