England Eyes Beckhams Galaxy Show
Wednesday 15 August 2007 at 16:43 All eyes will be on Beckham when he plays for "at least half a game" for Los Angeles Galaxy in tonight's Superliga semi-final.
He said that expects a decent role in the game against DC United after missing five of the last six matches due to an ankle injury, and he took part in a full training session with his club yesterday.
But doubts linger about the England international, and a poor performance would leave him out of Steve McClaren's squad for the friendly against Germany next week.
McClaren believes the free kick maestro should be kept involved in the England squad, but even so it is unlikely he will have any meaningful involvement against the three-time world champions.
Beckham came on as a 72nd-minute substitute for his Major League Soccer debut in the 1-0 defeat to DC United in Washington DC on Thursday, but an adverse reaction to his injured left ankle saw him sit out Sunday's league game at New England Revolution.
A poor show tonight will no doubt send odds for an England victory next week drifting, and might upset the market for an England win in Euro 08, after Beckham proved crucial in setting up an impressive number of goals in the last World Cup.
