New Chelsea Boss In At The Deep End Against United
Thursday 20 September 2007 at 11:37 After the shock departure of Jose Mourinho 'by mutual agreement' with Chelsea, new manager Avram Grant faces a tough test with his first match in charge being against champions Manchester United.
United are 10/11 favourites with SkyBet to win the match with the draw priced at 11/5 and a Chelsea win priced at 11/4.
Grant will have to use all the experience he gained at Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Maccabi Haifa to get Chelsea back to winning ways at the Theatre of Dreams.
According to former Chelsea player Pat Nevin it's not just United that will give Grant a hard time.
"If Avram Grant takes over the job in the mean time, and the Chelsea fans know that he was brought in and upset Jose, Avram Grant is going to be as welcome as Camilla at Diana's memorial," Nevin told BBG Five Live.
"This guy is not well-loved at Chelsea. He is not going to last." Chelsea are now at 3/1 to win the Premiership with Grant, while United are favourites to take a second title in a row on 2/1.
