Pakistan And New Zealand Prepare For Semi-final Showdown
Friday 21 September 2007 at 16:23 Some will be surprised that Pakistan and New Zealand have reached the semi-finals of the Twenty20 World Cup, but both teams now have their sights on being the nation to have its name etched onto the trophy.
When they meet in Cape Town on Sunday New Zealand will be slight favourites on 11/10 with Blue Square while Pakistan are offered at 4/5.
Pakistan have so far been aggressive in their play though their first four matches brought scores of 50 for 3, 47 for 4, 33 for 3 and 46 for 4 before the middle order led recoveries. Therefore odds of 5/6 on New Zealand to win the six over match could be tempting.
Shoaib Malik is currently Pakistan's highest run scorer in the tournament and is on odds of 5/1 to be the top run scorer in the match for his side.
However, Misbah-ul-Haq has the team's highest individual innings score of 66 not out and is priced at 7/1 to be Pakistan's biggest scorer in this match. He also holds the record for the biggest six.
Elsewhere, New Zealand's Craig McMillan has hit more sixes than any other player in the tournament with 12 flying over the boundary rope.
McMillan is priced at 5/1 to be the Kiwi's top scorer and odds of 10/11 are available for New Zealand to score the most sixes.
