Liverpool And Reading Square Up In Carling Cup
Tuesday 25 September 2007 at 11:49 Rafa Benitez will be hoping to add some zest to Liverpool's performance against Reading in the Carling Cup after a dull and uninspiring draw against Birmingham at the weekend.
Liverpool may well be focussing on other competitions but they will not want to lose against fellow Premiership club Reading and are 11/10 favourites with Stan James to win the match.
Reading on the other hand will see the cup as a chance of glory this season, having little chance of breaking in to European qualifying spots. The Royals are currently priced at 11/5 to win with a draw available with the same odds.
There are set to be changes all round with Adam Federici, Leroy Lita, Ulises de la Cruz, Bobby Convey, Scott Golbourne, Shane Long, Emerse Fae and Andre Bikey all entering the Reading line-up.
Liverpool are expected to include reserve-team captain Jack Hobbs and other squad players in their team as well as new French goalkeeper Charles Itandje and £5 million Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva.
A few correct score bets with Stan James include a Reading win of 1-0 or 2-0 at 8/1 and 12/1 respectively. The same results in Liverpool's favour are priced at 7/1 and 8/1.
Peter Crouch is priced at 11/2 to score first and new Kop wonder-kid Fernando Torres on 6/1.
For Reading Leroy Lita is priced at 7/1 to be the first player in the match to find the back of the net.
