Alonso Brazil Form Could Tip Title
Wednesday 17 October 2007 at 16:35 Formula One world championship contender Fernando Alonso's experience of the Brazil Grand Prix could tip the title in his favour.
Despite rookie Lewis Hamilton being the Blue Square 2/7 favourite to bag the F1 booty, the Spaniard is second in the betting behind a resurgent Kimi Raikkonen to win on the Interlagos circuit at 2/1.
And despite the reigning champ lagging four points behind with just Sao Paulo to come, he has the backing of former team boss Renault supreme Flavio Briatore.
The Italian told the Daily Mirror: "The guy at the front has the most pressure. For me the favourite is still Fernando.
"He has the experience, he has been here before, and he has always been fast in Brazil, a difficult track."
However, not to be ruled out is Raikkonen, with the Ferrari hot-shot poised and waiting in the wings if either, or preferably both, of the McLaren boys fluff their lines.
And the ice cool Finn certainly has the bookmakers support with Blue Square pricing him as the 7/4 favourite to take the chequered flag.
But it may be case of too little to late for Raikkonen with his championship odds further out at 8/1.
