Mourinho Tipped For England Role
Friday 19 October 2007 at 10:36 Jose Mourinho has been installed as favourite to land the England job - despite Steve McClaren still clinging to the post.
The former Chelsea man has only recently left the West London club but he is believed to be keen to find another high profile job, with Coral pricing the Portuguese at short odds of 7/2.
And with the 'special one' not being able to take up a position with another Premier League club until next season the timing could be perfect.
He is, however, not the only name in the frame with Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill emerging again for the job he was interviewed for following the departure of Sven Goran Eriksson.
The former Celtic boss has been installed as second favourite, priced at 5/1 with Coral and it seems that Villa supremo Randy Lerner would not stand in his way.
The American said: "It's clearly one of the greatest honours you can achieve in football [management]."
He added: "If it were to happen, you'd have to [respect] that opportunity. I would not stand in his way. But, my God, I hope he's here for the long term."
Meanwhile, Betfair are offering odds of 2/1 for England to make it to the Euro 2008 finals.
