Smith Weary Of Barcelona Threat
Tuesday 23 October 2007 at 15:58 Rangers manager Walter Smith is under no illusion of the massive task facing his side as they square off against Barcelona at Ibrox tonight.
The former Scotland boss has started well in the Champions League, with his Glasgow side winning both their opening games and the club having their odds to lift the crown cut to 80/1 with both Ladbrokes and VC Bet.
Commenting on the danger his side will face against the Spanish giants, Smith said: "With the level of player that Barcelona have, it would be difficult for any team in the world to play against them."
He added: "We are at home, we've had a good start to the Champions League by winning the first two games home and away, so I don't see why we shouldn't think we can be competitive in a game against Barcelona. I'm sure we can."
"The staff, the players, everyone is looking forward to it and we want to do well so we don't go into it thinking we're not going to get any points."
Despite their impressive start to their European campaign, Rangers are still massive underdogs to turn over the Catalans side being offered as 4/1 long shots with Stan James and Coral.
