Hatton Confident Of Mayweather Victory
Thursday 25 October 2007 at 16:16 Ricky Hatton claims that a number of people are going to have to apologise to him for backing Floyd Mayweather - after he beats him on December 9th.
The Hitman is supremely confident going into the Las Vegas tussle and is maintaining, despite being the 7/4 underdog with William Hill and Coral, that he will make a lot of experts sorry.
Hatton said: "I know all these people that are picking Floyd, there's going to be a few apologies coming my way, and I'm sure every opponent has said the same at Floyd's face, but I just can't wait to go out there. I just can't wait.
"In my eyes this fight is already even over. I think Floyd is going to get the shock of his life."
He added: "I think he has taken me lightly. I think he just thinks the obvious - I'm a strong kid, high work-rate, loads of punches, body punches, I've fought 500 of them. Well I think he's going to get a shock."
A victory for the Briton may put him in poll position to pip Formula One runner-up Lewis Hamilton to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year title, with Hatton sitting in second place in the betting being offered at 4/1 with Blue Square and Boyle Sports.
