Nalbandian Continues Winning Ways In Paris
Monday 29 October 2007 at 14:54  Madrid Masters champion David Nalbandian continued his fine form with an impressive victory over Spain's Nicolas Almagro in the Paris Masters.
The Argentine swept past his first round opponent, 6-4 6-4, to set up a second Spanish encounter with 14th seed Carlos Moya.
The impressive form of Nalbandian, world number 18, has seen his odds to win the Paris Masters cut to 20/1 with Sporting Bet and 16/1 with William Hill.
Nalbandian is also favourite to claim a third round place at the expense of Moya with Stan James and Paddy Power offering odds of 2/5 for an Argentine victory.
Gilles Simon also claimed a place in the second round by defeating Italy's Portio Starace. The Frenchman edged out his opponent in a tight encounter, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, setting up a tough tie with Spain's world number eight Tommy Robredo.
Meanwhile, British hopeful Andrew Murray saw his odds of victory in Paris slashed following his victory at the St Petersburg Open.
The Scotsman beat Fernando Verdasco 6-2, 6-3, and is now 16/1 with Stan James to claim the title in the French capital.
