Singh Vows To Defend Volvo Masters Title
Wednesday 31 October 2007 at 16:11 Reigning Volvo Masters champion Jeev Mikha Singh has vowed to defend his crown despite being a rank outsider to win the championship.
The current master is an unlikely underdog and will struggle to retain his title, according to the 66/1 odds being offered by William Hill and Blue Square. But the Indian stroke maker is determined to make a good impression at Valederrama for the second year running.
Commenting on the big tee-off on Thursday (November 1st), he said: "There is always something emotional about defending a title. I was not able to do that in the case of Volvo China Open, but this one is something I didn't want to miss." However, Singh will have to be at his best to defeat the array of talent playing the Spanish course, with Sergio Garcia the 7/1 favourite with Ladbrokes and Bet Direct and Padraig Harrington not far behind, being offered at 11/1 with Stan James and VC Bet. Singh has been paired up with Fredrik Hed Andersson, while home favourite Garcia will face off against British hopeful Graham Storm.
